  1. Latest news is that the ship's fuel may have been suspect, causing the engines to fail and lose power.
  2. That cutter is missing the tail that is used as the lever for cutting. And yes, I do believe it is inserted in the back... for that extra barnyard aroma.
  3. Oh, no no no no. You're not dragging me into this trap!!!
  4. You can see from these pics that the bridge support columns would never have survived getting hit. Compare the bridge pier and how many dolphins are used around the Sunshine Skyway Bridge to the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
  5. If you look at the design of the bridge, there doesn't appear to be enough protection around the support column to prevent an impact. Even slowly moving, that vessel has a helluva lot of mass, therefore the impact force would have been immense. Shipping has changed in the 30 odd years since that bridge was built, and it was probably never imagined the size of vessels that would be used near it. More dolphins should have been in place to prevent ships from coming near the bridge. And the design itself, being a truss bridge, would have also been an issue. Most people will not remember when this bridge, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, was taken out by a vessel accidentally hitting a support column over 40 years ago. Since then, dolphins were put in place to prevent another incident. If they build a new bridge, I'm guessing it will be a cable stay bridge, with the span being a lot wider, so the support columns can be placed closer to the shore.
  6. Do you like those pine scented car air fresheners? Would you like that in your wine? Or perhaps you enjoy drinking turpentine? If so, retsina is for you! Seriously though, high quality retsina made from good quality grapes (not crap quality savatiano) pairs really well with Greek food, especially lamb.
  7. Shocking that an entire bridge can be brought down so easily. Apparently the ship was under the control of harbour pilots, but reported they had lost control of the vessel. The anchor was dropped as per emergency procedures, but the vessel still hit the southern support column at around 6-7 knots. Luckily traffic had been stopped before the vessel hit the bridge when the emergency had been raised by the crew, otherwise there could have been more casualties.
  8. Yep, easiest thing to do is be upfront about your situation. If they are a good crew, they will understand. Nothing wrong with saying, "Look guys, I enjoy our get togethers, but I'm in a bit of a rough patch. Do you mind if I pay my own way for now?". The cigar community come from all different walks of life, and are a fairly generous bunch. Sure you get your tossers here and there, but overall its all good. Reasonable people will understand your situation. If they don't, then it shows their character, not yours. Not everyone is rolling in Cohibas and sipping on Cristal, while their chauffeur is out front polishing their Maybach. And the above suggestion of changing up the venue is also something worth exploring.
  9. You guys have it all wrong. Apple was not forced by EU regulations or given in to market pressure. They spent years in research on how to bring the best experience to Apple customers, and so after a decade of research and innovation, they gave iPhone fans USB-C.... with 2014 specs.
  10. For Chinese, golf is a mug's game. Let's say it costs $100 to play, but then you go and try to get around in as few shots as possible. Where's the value in that?!?! You want to play as many shots as possible, so that the cost per shot is a lot lower and you get your money's worth!!
  11. I remember reading an article back in 2018 about the number of concussions in Rugby, NFL, Hockey, Soccer etc. Rugby had the most concussions per 1000 players, NFL next, women's and men's Ice Hockey, women's Soccer and way down the list... men's Soccer. Female players had a higher risk of concussion than men. Even in practice, women had higher rates of concussion than men in a similar sport.
  12. I remember having Xbox LAN parties at my cousin's house. I'd lug my Sony 68cm TV (CRT, not flatscreen) over to his place every Friday night. Those were fun nights. And in uni we'd have Doom comps to see who could last the longest. I held the record for several years.
  13. The original is called the Fleshlight Quickshot Launch. @El Presidente don't buy knock-offs. I'll send you some links for authentic dealers.
