  1. It's no more than a 5 minute cab ride of a 15 minute walk from the sound end of the Mile. If you're public transportation savvy it's a short train ride as well. For all of you thinking about planning a trip there next time you're in town, hit me up. Always looking for a reason to head down.
  2. I live in Chicago so I have the pleasure of heading down there quite a few times a year. It's one of the few ways I get to enjoy my stash during the winter months. I've thought about getting a membership, but I'm not quite to that point just yet. It's usually a very friendly crowd in there and in the evenings it gets pretty busy. Great place.
  3. Time to move on. No hard feelings. Clearly a miscommunication.
  4. Publically accusing someone of breaking forum rules seems like a pretty big deal to me. A little research would have made it obvious I had nothing to do with it though. Really no need to make those kinds of statements. If you really felt that way contacting me privately or contacting a mod would have made more sense. I will make sure to be more careful about the things I share around here to avoid future issues.
  5. Uh, I have no connection to the site at all. Just came across it and thought others might like it. To say that accusation is offensive is an understatement.
  6. If any of you are looking for a fun conservation piece lighter, check out this guy... https://www.etsy.com/shop/LuminousWhatnots Some pretty cool stuff on there.
  7. I had one just a few weeks ago from my pile of LE/RE singles and I thought it was very good. One of my favorites of the year so far actually. Burned well, medium-mild body. Didn't take any notes so I can't remember the exact flavor profile, but I remember it being very enjoyable.
  8. Finally finished #4 Saturday. It was well constructed and burned well, but it was bland, bland, bland. Nothing there but tobacco and the occasional wisp of sweetness. Gotta say, I haven't had a cigar in the first four that I like or would buy again (and I have several boxes of PSD4s). They've all either been horrible examples or I just don't like these cigars. And as a double check on this one to make sure that I wasn't going crazy, I had my wife smoking a young RASS alongside me. About halfway through #4 I took a couple puffs off her cigar and immediately picked out flavors. It's not me, it's the stick. I have no idea what it is so either I get lucky through process of elimination of I stay 0-fer.
  9. I head over to Iwan Reis in the winter quite a bit with my wife. They usually let my wife in free cause she's a lady. [emoji4] And they don't care if you bring your own (cigars or booze). Of course you are paying for the lounge so it's a little different that way.
  10. Interesting. I'm heading to Ireland for a couple weeks at the beginning of September. If there's any specific places I should stop to find a special aged beauty, PM me. I will be in Dublin, Kinsale, Kenmare, Limerick, Galway, and Clifden.
  11. Cancer sucks. My dad has been battling pancreatic cancer for the last 7 years. Not bad for a disease that kills 75% in the first year. Regardless it's been an incredibly difficult 7 years for both he and our family. Most of the time his quality of life has sucked and it seems like it might be better to just give in. What a crappy disease that makes you think those things about your own father. It's one cause that I continue to support charitably in hopes that others won't have to go through what my family has. Stay strong. It's the only way to get through it. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  12. Best show on TV right now is Orphan Black. Find the first season online somewhere and give it a go. Fantastic stuff. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  13. I haven't been posting much lately (taken a step back to just read more and learn), but I just have to jump in on this one. My reasons for voting for private are purely selfish... 1. It would, theoretically, make the LFTW better since I would assume everyone would be able to follow the rules (huge assumption). 2. It would, theoretically, make it easier to get my favorite PSPs since there would be less "competition". 3. I would have less concern about the security of what information I may volunteer here. However, I can also see that going private may be necessary because it becomes increasingly impossible to maintain the quality of this forum as more members come on. Eventually you're going to run into a few bad apples that will ruin it for everyone. It's hard to moderate something of this size and keep the quality up. With all that said though, I would be nowhere without this forum and I'd hate to take that away from other new people that are just looking for a great place to discuss Cuba, Cuban Culture, and Cuban Cigars. It would be sad, but it might be inevitable. No matter the decision, some people will be happy and some will be sad. It's the price of progress.
  14. That's not entirely true. Diesel is more expensive per gallon in the States, but you usually get quite a bit more MPG on diesel than gas. On a $/mile basis it's probably pretty close, might even favor Diesel. It's a case by case (car by car) basis.
  15. Culturally, I don't think it's possible to overstate the US influence on the rest of the world. Whether it's music, film, TV, fashion, etc., we have a huge influence on the rest of the world. Economically, I think the US has declined slightly since 9/11. We've spent so much of our own money chasing the boogeyman that we've neglected investment in our own country. That's going to haunt us for years. Politically, I the US has declined a lot since 9/11. Our aggressive attempts to make the middle east like us has made us look bad. Our unilateral use of force has mad us look bad. Our use of torture has made us look bad. Neglecting our own people (healthcare, unemployment, immigration, etc.) to further our pursuit of terrorists has made us look bad. I had hopes that the talks with Iran and getting Syria to destroy its chemical weapons would put us back on the right track, but it appears that Russia is going to make that very difficult with what it's doing in Ukraine. We have a long way to go to get back to where we were in the 90's when it comes to our standing in the world politically.
