Campanas (3/5)

  1. Went here on Friday late afternoon. Nice rooftop bar with a reasonable selection of rum, whisky and whiskey. A nice bloke called Jack was running the bar. He was happy to let you guys know that you can BYO cigars. I brought a HU half corona. A limited supply of cigars there but I purchased a small thin Cohiba. Nice little ashtrays for each brand you are smoking. They have cutters, lighter etc and I let Jack light mine. All good, although the cigar I brought was a touch wet for the cool conditions. I personally really liked it because it was casual and relaxed and the people were nice. Small menu of cocktails but Jack said you could order pretty much anything and he'll make it. Of course, I ordered an El Presidente. Ha ha! And a nice Macallan. Quick visit but an good starting point from 4pm to head out to dinner afterwards. Did my racing form. No good there. Doh! And my horse bombed. Back to the drawing board. Cheers. Here's a few pics.
  2. Heading into the CBD on Friday for dinner. May have to leave earlier. Hopefully open in the afternoon. Thanks for the heads up @El Presidente. It looks spot on for what it is delivering. Cheers.
  3. I thought I'd introduce a few mates to the delights of the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne with a Feast on the East lunch, local football watching and punting on the ponies and AFL at the local pub. Was a hoot! Thought you'd all get a laugh at suburbia in my hometown - where they filmed the TV show Neighbours with Kylie Minogue, good old Nunawading. Cheers
  4. Palace Hotel Tokyo Gin Palace Melbourne - (fav) probably not best Fat Duck Crown Casino - was a limited pop-up in Melbourne, other than that I loved Joel Rubuchon in Hong Kong
  5. Is that Cillian Murphy you're speaking of here? Peaky Blinders is a ripper series. He was also Oppenheimer. I've also been watching the 'Guy Ritchie' Series 'The Gentlemen' which is a spin off from the movie. I'm warming to the lead character. Not sure he has the extra 'it' factor but he is very Bond like. Great voice too which is important to carry the role IMHO.
  6. Ana De Armas is of Cuban descent. Maybe she can be the face of Ninfas? I, of course, would have to show her around Australia - totally free of charge. Oh, the sacrifices I make for you guys. 😍
  7. According to Opera, I'm from South America. 😅 Born and bred in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Very seasonal here, all in one day at times. Usually fishing, diving, drinking in Summer and cricket. Autumn is horse racing and drinking. Winter is AFL and drinking. Spring is AFL, horse racing, fishing and drinking. We have a lot of sporting events that are reasonably easy to get to and from because our CBD is based on a grid and trains and trams and traffic can get in and out ok. But getting worse and worse for traffic unfortunately. Sydney, on the other hand, is set around a great harbour with coves and inlets and one way streets which means it can be harder to get to events. But with great beaches, Sydneysiders often have better things to do and many stay local. Both great cities IMHO. But I'm a biased Melbournian. Cheers.
  8. Saturday, what a great day out with mates at the races to see our horse run at Flemington. He ran super down the straight in a 20 horse race, in a fast finishing 6th place - which means we collect $20,000 prize money. He looks like he might just be a very good race horse, and we think even better as a 4yo next year. Maybe pushing out to 1400m from 1200m. He's also good in the wet. Flemington is now quite a facility with the new members stand and roof top bar. I looked like a bit of a tool but had to wear the silk colours - blue and pink. Ha ha! Cheers, onto the next race in about 3 weeks or so. Needs some water work and time in paddock - just like me!
  9. Went to the horse races with mates last Saturday for a big group 1 race day at Caulfied. Tomorrow, we are off to Headquarters, Flemington (the home of the Melbourne Cup), to see a horse we have a small share in run in a $1million race. He's a rank outsider but who cares - free entry, food and drinks in the members with mates. You never know! Cheers
  10. My cousin's husband is Italian. He loves them. Are they the type that you cut in half and are tapered wider in the middle where you cut them?
