Cigar stores in HK

Recommended Posts

So i was just checking out the pcc website and it seems their stores in HK also include a lounge that you can smoke in, just wanting to see for those that have been there, if this is indeed the case, cause i'll know what i'll be doing on my short trip over there in Mar if thats the case!

On the Kowloon side there is the LCDH in the Sheraton hotel has a lounge where you can smoke. Very close to that there is the Peninsula hotel that has a Davidoff store (sells cuban and non cubans) which also has a lounge in which you can smoke. Then on the island side there is Red Lounge or something it's called which is on the 4th story of the Pedders building or something which also has a lounge. All lounges only allow you to smoke what you purchase... and they are pretty expensive... for an indication, look at the Aussie prices on here, and they are about 10% more.

All lounges are pretty good for a sit down and a smoke though. I'm sure there are others but these are the three that i have been to myself.

Also if you can afford it, i would highly recommend the Sheraton. quite pricey (300 a night i paid) but to date it was the most comfortable bed i ever slept in. You have to pay for internet in your room though, which is **** (the free wifi is only valid for the lobby area).

I second the lcdh at the Sheraton. Great selection, some nice aged stock, good mix of limiteds, and a nice lounge with a good amount of space. Not to mention some cool merchandise if interested.

The other lounges I've been to in HK have been small and cramped.

Im staying @ the Langham actually, so hopefully just as good as the sheraton. Good thing about the Langham is not only do you get free wifi in the hotel, but they give you a free 3G smart phone with unlim data, i couldnt say no to that deal.

I can vouch for the LCDH at the Sheraton. Nice spot and pretty decent collection in the humidor. Expect to pay $30-$40/stick for most stuff. There's another cigar shop just up Nathan road on Carnavon road called Havana Express and they have a better humidor than Sheraton, but the smoking room is tiny. Nice staff though. And it's still expensive, but they'll give you a box price sometimes.

My favorite is still the Red Divan that LA mentioned on the 4th Floor at 405 Pedder Street in Central. A very classy place, decent humidor, a helpful cigar 'sommelier' and good bar service. My bias for this spot may actually just be from the time a beautiful model sat down in the arm chair next to me and struck up a conversation over a couple of Royal Robustos love.gif

here's an article on these and others: http://www.businesstraveller.com/asia-pacific/news/five-of-the-best-cigar-bars-in-hong-kong

I stay at the Peninsula, the 5 or 6 times a year I visit HK, and smoke often in the Davidoff lounge... It is quite small, but there are never any more than 2 or 3 people in there... I usually purchase a nice LE, and give it away to someone and smoke my own... With a tip and a smile, they don't care at all... For some odd reason, their cigars are usually not very good... Maybe over humidified, or not of the highest quality... But, my cigars smoke beautifully in there :)

The LCDH at the Sheridan has a nicer lounge, almost 3 times bigger than the Davidoff lounge, but the cigars are just as flat and bland, and I end up smoking my own... (the key is, when you purchase a cigar from these places, tell them you will light it yourself, and go and sit down, then you can fire up your own)

The Red Divan is the classiest, as mentioned, and the most crowded, and for some reason the cigars are much better, and I don't mind buying and smoking them here.

You can also smoke just about anywhere in public, and I highly recommend taking a taxi to Victoria Peak, and bring a nice cigar and your favorite beverage, and enjoy the view...

SAS,

The Langham Place is now a Cordis Hotel but still a very lovely hotel, try to get a club level room and it is free drinks all day and they are even will allow you to take a full bottle to your room! I found the android phone they give out for free to be slow but google maps works on it so that is the best way to explore the city.

I was drinking Champagne by the bottle and smoking Cohibas in my room.

I hope you enjoy your stay as I did and myself I would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

Kurt
