  1. No doubt a NC smoker... only had 1 package stopped myself from that part of the planet. CC's though, bend over and wait for it. They hate smoking, but they love money... If the one track minded politicians squeeze as much $$ out of the everyday smoker as possible, with a light at the end of the tunnel that snuffs out smoking for the younger generations forever, they think they are on the right track. Makes sense to them that the price increases, so if 50% of smokers quit in the next 4 years (which is highly unlikely) they will have doubled their duty pot and therefore raised the same amount of money with 50% less drain on the health system RE tobacco related illness... Now I'll take off my "inconsiderate government official hat" and shed some light on the reality of the issue... Advertising Regulations and Plain packaging was the beginning of the end of B&M's in Australia. For years now many smokers have been sending a lot of our money oversees, increased our smuggling efforts and in turn helped close a lot of Aussie businesses. Expect to see some really clever smuggling attempts increase as the duty becomes more out of reach for the every man. Then one day it will be illegal and bang we've just taken 100 years backwards step in society. Money will be thrown away on "The War on Tobacco", criminals will have a whole new industry open up to them over night. Instead of having a multi billion dollar tax that can actually be put to good use, they will ruin that revenue stream and it'll go the same way as the war on drugs... lives lost, money wasted, police sticking their noses in morality. Prohibition does not work, people will smoke as a choice regardless of legality. There are no people who don't do drugs because they can't find them .... it's a moral choice, and in my opinion governments and law enforcement shouldn't stop people making moral choices, they should only protect people from one another. Let's forget for a second that they have put the casual cigar smoker in the same ******* bag as a pack a day cigarette smoker, which is ridiculous in itself.. They are about to make another mistake that will ruin an industry, it's tradition and another freedom in the already overly regulated country that men and women died in the belief they were fighting for our freedoms... Wake up! This country needs a ******* shake up! Lol rant over.. stay smoky
  2. So by 2020 it'll be like $1000 per kg... That's hectic...
  3. Ok I found it by googling google spreadsheets and history, but it's well broken!
  4. There used to be a spreadsheet that you could punch in length and ring gauge to estimate duty. Does anyone know where that got to I can't seem to find it?
  5. Vintec and Transtherm are also humidity controlled at cellaring temp.
  6. A nice cold beer and a (non cuban for a change of pace) cigar as i sit and reflect on the fact that 100 years ago our forefathers were literally hours away from landing at gallipoli. What hellish nightmares they suffered in those trenches so we would have exactly the kind of freedoms i'm enjoying right now. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
  7. My wee Adorini desktop, please note its being seasoned, its no good for target practice you maniacs I will upload photos of it with cigars at a later date.
  8. Hey mate, also a Queenlander. Where abouts do you hail from? I'm just west of Brisbane.
  9. My thoughts are with you mate, it's a hard pill to swallow but you clearly gave Athena a good life and truly cared. Losing a family member is a terrible part of life, I only hope you focus on the good memories to help ease the pain of losing Athena. Take care brother.
  10. Hang the sense of it and keep busy ! - Wise man to young man
  11. So from this thread it would appear all Aussies agreeVintec is the way to go. Are there any competitors or are vintec in a class of their own? I know it depends on where you live, weather etc but for aussie summers and winters (QLD) is Vintec what I should default to? looking at getting a decent size one so want to make sure I get the best possible unit for the $$. A minimal stuff around system is what I'd like, if I need to go away id like to be confident they will stay safe. Does anyone know of other brands with active humidity control?
  12. Didn't know much about these when I caught it off peel Island, Turns out "flake" is commonly Wobbegong and it probably would have been nice to eat. Interaction with humans[edit]Wobbegongs are generally not dangerous to humans unless they are provoked. They have bitten people who accidentally step on them in shallow water; they may also bite scuba divers, surfers, [2] or snorkellers who poke or touch them, or who block their escape route.[citation needed]Wobbegongs are very flexible and can easily bite a hand holding on to their tail.[3] They have many small but sharp teeth and their bite can be severe, even through a wetsuit; having once bitten, they have been known to hang on and can be very difficult to remove.[4] In Australia, the flesh of wobbegongs and other shark species is called flake and it is often the "fish" component of fish and chips. Wobbegong skin is also used to make leather. Hahaha great to read after the fact!
