Maplepie Posted August 12, 2014 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Get some other small ones. I simply refuse to buy 75% of the RyJ line in hopes that Habanos will start discontinuing them. Exceptions to this (for me) are the: RyJ Tubos series, RyJ Churchill, RyJ Petit Julieta, and ones I'm too lazy to remember. Sent by the Enigma on BlackBerry. CaptainQuintero Posted August 13, 2014 Share Posted August 13, 2014 The coronitas are great as are the cedro #3, chewy fruity smokes if that makes sense. The sport largos have an awesome name though decent smoke too but more to the herbal/floral side of RyJ to me, depends which you prefer. The RyJ 'cheapies' are what essentially keeps HSA in businesses, they are the mainstay cigar across Europe, they wont be going anywhere. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Knilas Posted August 16, 2014 Share Posted August 16, 2014 While I don't have an opinion on the Sports Largo because I've yet to try one, I find the Coronitas to be one of the few RyJ that are really good fresh (ROTT). I also enjoy the Mille Fluers, but find these need a lil more time to get good. I will be picking up some Cedros #3 now, based on Captain Q's recommendation. CanuckSARTech Posted September 12, 2014 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Always have a special place in my heart (and my coolerdors) for RyJ Coronitas en Cedro and RyJ Romeo No. 2 tubos. Current boxes I have in there are 2006 and/or 2008, and smoking amazingly well for such an inexpensive cigar. CQ hit the nail on the head - Coronitas en Cedro have a strong stewed-cherries fruitiness to them, and these type of lines are definitely staples on the "non-premium" market worldwide. Smallclub Posted October 9, 2014 Share Posted October 9, 2014 I have smoked hundreds of the cheap RyJ. The Sport Largos was one of my "quick after lunch smoke" when I was working in Paris. They can be good, but they can be a bit agressive as well. Depends on the batch. They're quite popular in France. Also depends on how you approach them Frank. Slow an' easy on a sunny afternoon and the RyJ SL is a lovely smoke. I get more of a pepper flavor, full bodied. I've stocked up on these. I've never smoked the Sport Largos. I had stayed away from RJ for several years, but these have brought me back. It's the stick that got me started as well I haven't tried the other so I can't compare directly unfortunately. topdiesel Posted April 20, 2015 Share Posted April 20, 2015 I have enjoyed a few coronitas en cedro as well as the mille fleurs. This thread resurfacing inspired me to smoke my sole sport largos, glad it did. It has been resting in the humidor for 3 or 4 years and was always passed over for others. I really enjoyed the smoke and the experience as I sat in the shade by the pool on a pleasant 72 degree afternoon. Enjoyed familiar RyJ flavors as well as some nice floral (not perfumed), pepper without the cherry (just as capt. mentioned) that I really enjoy in some RyJ favorites. Perfect amount of nicotine for noon-time. This smoke would benefit from a couple more years for my taste as I think it would round out a couple of the rough patches. The smoke lasted 40 minutes at my pace and at the price, a box will most likely go into deep sleep for the next 6-8 years. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
