  1. I think I went through 3 boxes. I don't remember how much they cost at the time. I wish I had saved some. To me they were good but a touch muted when young.
  2. I don't think you guys are taking my comments in the spirit intended. I am actually quite interested in the vacuum bagging experiments. For sure certain packing helps slow aging so I'm sure bagging up your boxes is working. Being an engineer, I like to understand the mechanism at play. I also like to fish and packing fresh fish is something where getting as much vacuum as possible helps keep it fresh for a very long time. The guys who do that regularly use chamber vacuums and THICK bags to get nearly a full vacuum before sealing. It makes a big difference over the food saver machines. But even those leak over time. As I said earlier, it would be an interesting experiment to use a commercial housing and REALLY pull a full vacuum. Unfortunately for all of us, by the time we understand that impact it will probably be a long time from now.
  3. You may be overestimating the vacuum that a FoodSaver is producing. It is nowhere near a full vacuum. Also the bags are quite permeable to gas. So while the intention of minimizing oxygen is good, there is still quite a bit left in your system. There are industrial containers and vacuum chambers you can buy if that is truly the goal. But I suspect the "magic" here is purely minimizing the loss of volatile chemicals lost when we leave boxes in an open humidor. The point is, opening a bag every once in a while to re-seal or take out a 10-box probably isn't the end of the world.
  4. Reading comprehension was at about a 3 when I posted that. Lonsdale!!
  5. Well it depends. If we are talking current production Cuban cigars, then I would probably choose a Piramide. Simply for the fact that I can't have a Bolivar Lonsdale or a Partagas PS#1 or an RA-898. But if those are on the table, then Lonsdale for sure.
  6. I'm still mad about the box of 97's that never made it to me 20+ years ago!!
  7. Any time I walk up, any cigar in my stash could be on death row. Totally depends on what I feel like that day. But there are certainly some, mostly older cigars that are reserved for a special occasion, or are sentimental to me.
  8. Fresh RA's is the first thing that came to mind. IMO OpusX also have a raisin/prune aroma before lighting. But I don't get that taste at all when lit.
  9. I'm very sorry to hear this news. I never met him but chatting online he was a super cool person. He will be missed.
  10. I had two boxes of the sublimes size about 10 years ago. I did not care for them. They were beautifully constructed and quality tobacco, but had no detectable flavor. I gave them to my father in law.
  11. You know times are tough when Jordan needs to get on a plane to try to get some cigars! He must have needed to use his influence.
  12. Is it just me or do others find it tacky that Habanos keeps recycling classic cigar names on today's large ring gage? It would have been way cooler to bring a Private Stock back as a lonsdale.
