  1. What they ended up with is way better than what was proposed, which would have all but killed cigar retailers in the city. Not that I particularly care, all of my cigars come from continents far away. My bigger beef is the ban they passed on smokeless tobacco at sporting events - I apparently can't use my snus at Hawks games now.
  2. Sure, the salt test is accurate. The problem is, the further away from 75% rh you store your cigars, the less meaningful it is to know when your hygrometer is reading 75% rh.
  3. Exactly. But imagine the error sliding the other way: the hygrometer reads 62% in a 62% rh environment, and 72% in a 75 rh environment. If you do the salt test method like other people advocate in this thread, you are going to add a +3% offset to your hygrometer and end up storing your cigars drier than you think you are.
  4. Unless you keep your cigars at 75% rh, the salt test is stupid. Don't do it. Your hygrometer is obviously in the ballpark, try to keep the humidor at 65% or 60% or whatever and if your cigars don't smoke good, change it. When they do smoke good, note the value and try to keep it around there.
  5. In lovely Bermuda for the week to watch the America's Cup World Series.
  6. Grabbed a bottle of G&M Caol Ila 2001/2015 Hermitage-cask finish on a lark, current champion.
  7. I tend to either pick a piece of the cap off with my thumbnail or cut out a punch hole with my rigging knife, which I always carry. Have had many guillotine / V cutters and they always leave dust on the filler that I either have to clean off or end up inhaling.
  8. Not my picture, but grabbed a bottle of this on sale for what seemed like a decent price. Seems like a pretty solid whisky so far, thinking it might open up a bit with time.
  9. Found another one of these. Cheaper than the OB 12 and all around better IMHO.
