Beautiful looking cigars. Not to stir it up or anything, but it has been discussed at lenght on ICC that the first known boxes of these are OCT00 and that the POS MAYOO are of questionable origin if not downright fakeos. Doesnt mean that their not great cigars in their own right.

I don't wish to pile on, but one of the most knowledgeable cigar men in Switzerland was apparently fooled by these cigars, and was selling them.

One of at least two telling signs is the POS factory code. I don't believe this code was used until 2006. :-(

Welcome to FOH. I guess you don't have to really trust anyone here, but in time, I think you'll

find the fellowship to be quite knowledgeable and willing to share.

Perhaps look at it this way - members have made you aware of past problems with these cigars and

codes. If you use the search function - try partagas piramides - you may find some interesting reading.

In general, they do sell legitimate cigars. This is an exception - one I am sure they are very embarrassed about.

Yes, fake...

POS in 2000 = Fake

embossed letters on the limitada band = Fake

box code font = Fake

Your pictures dont show it, but I'm sure it says "Säuberli AG Basel" on there. They are the importer who bought the fakes. Säuberli and Davidoff belong to the same company (Oettinger). All the Davidoff shops in Switzerland have these fake cigars! The Swiss dealer who sold you the cigars probably didnt know they're fake.

What were you doing at "Davidoff", anyway? Tasteless, expensive Dominican cigars they sell...

Interesting tasting, with the fur and wool :-)

God I hate the counterfeit cigar industry.

It has got to the point that when I buy my stock, even from highly-reputable sellers, that I scrutinize every box heavily - not because I dont trust them... but because I fear that the line of distribution that got the cigars to them may have been compromised.

Rob, per the "Give Us The Inside Scoop" thread you started, shouldn't this only be a concern if you

are purchasing cigars which have been acquired outside of authorized channels?

Cigarros, if you haven't seen it already, this may be a good thread for you to read:

Colt, You are entirely correct... it should only be a concern if the cigars are purchased within official channels - but a big problem is faced when legitimate dealers who use official channels as well as some 'on the side' parallel importation.

For instance - about 6 months ago, I purchased a box of very expensive box of rare cigars from one of Australia's biggest and most respected retailers.

When the box arrived, I queried why the box did not have the offial PCC (Pacific Cigar Company) stickers etc...

The retailer advised that the box was not sourced from PCC... and it was privately sourced from overseas. I automatically began to panic... as the retailer opened his doors to the POSSIBILITY of compromised stock. This bothered me no end.

This is where the problem exists - when a trusted retailer, who uses official channels for the majority of their stock also has stock sourced privately. I've been led to believe that A LOT of retailers supplement their stock supplies (especially aged, vintage and rare stock) with externally sourced product.

Another example is currently going on in Canada... (highlighted on another forum) ... an Authorised retailer sold some Sublimes that were unanimously and obviously fake. The official distributor (Havana House) came to the retailers aid and declared the product as authentic... but it was clearly not.

People are now hypothesising that Havana House had THEIR distribution channels compromised. If this is true then Habanos SA will have a terrible situation to deal with politically.

Hence, my original statement - I HATE the counterfeiting industry.

I'm gonna be straight with you. DONT EVER BUY RARE CUBAN CIGARS FROM DAVIDOFF IN SWITZERLAND!!!

it is the only shop that has 20 boxes of sublimes cohiba, 20 more of cohiba DC AND monte DC etc....

You can buy normal prod there, but never EL!!!

I hope you didnt pay top dollar for them Cigarros... if you got them cheap then its even better that you enjoyed them.

Oh, and another thing that identifies them as fake is that there should be a yellow 'partagas' sticker on the front edge (in the center, from top lid to bottom lid).

Yea Rob! Much money. Mr El Prezidente asked me not use prices in post. So probably two times expensive than for example box of Cohiba robusto.... Very pity! And I can't refund them - all have been smoked..... F*ck!!!
