La Gloria Cubana Gloriosos

Wrapper:Colorado light golden brown just beautiful - classic LGC wrapper

Construction :Excellent except at foot bunched tobacco a little messy no biggie

Smell cold : light coco and floral notes very mellow aged tobacco

Label : just stunning they did a great job on it.

Draw cold: Just perfect just the right amount of resistance

Flavors noted during smoke:

1st half:

Lots of smoke lite to med

lots of honey
bread
milk
licorice
some sweet sugary flavors
mushroom
sweet fruit
spice - not strong but smooth and balanced

half way to the nub;
med to lite side of full

Lots of creamy honey the main core of this cigar now
tangy fruit flavors
spice still balanced
smokey flavors
raw sugar
grassy

At the nub it was very strong with spice over taking every flavor noted you could really taste the youth of this cigar more than ever . I really enjoyed this cigar it offered lots of flavor but I must say it will only get better with some nap time I would say 1 to 2 years. But I could smoke it young from time to time and not get bored of it. It demands your attention as there were so many flavors being picked up about going it this way.

Med finish on the palette with thick creamy sweet fruit / honey and grassy flavor.

Its a shame these cost so much and would be a sin if they did not make them regular production. They did a very nice job blending this cigar but regular production cigars in general as of late are just as good and I can live with that and so can my pocket $$$.Do I want a box of these YES but not at the price they are going for 10.

89/100
4 smoke ring out 5

Jimmy, you did a great job with both the review and the pics. These sound very nice, but I note that you find "regular production cigars are just as good". What regular production LGC would you compare this to?

Glad to hear they are good. Been waiting YEARS for LGC in this format and have had 3 boxes showed up today.
For years all I ask for is a LGC Robusto.....

Will also agree that they are great photos Jimmy.
Your review makes me want to save up and buy a single!

Thanks Jimmy. I did buy the 10 box of these. The varnished boxes are rounded with a beautiful LGC painting on the inside lid. the band, as you notice is golder than the regular production band. The boxes are special production and held up the release for 10 months. I sampled one out of the box recently. It's the best cigar I've smoked in a while -- sweet, honey, nut -- it reminds me a little of the RA Gran Robusto Benelux. But more powerful flavors. It's focused now. But this should be a very special cigar in a few years. I'll take some pics of the box. It's a beauty.

LGC Gloriosos RE TEB NOV 08

Very beautiful cigar, well put together

Bought a fiver to sample as I do with all RE cigars

Wrapper was golden Brown/Tan, velvet-silky feeling, minimal veins, solid feeling in hand

Smoke time was 73 mins

Pre draw was hollow with some Orange citris and floral scents

Initial puff was light, cocoa and lots of smoke

Draw was great and even burn through out

Flavors included leather, citris, wheat, cream, spice(cant figure out what kind?) and Honey Nut Cheerios

Size was perfect for me, Robusto Extra

This was my first LGC ever

Ash was Grey and flaky

Starts off as mild and then picks up intensity to finish as a solid medium but not full at all IMHO

It was kind of like seeing a pretty girl at the mall but you dont stop and get to know her, you keep on walking.....if that makese sense

Price is about $25-30/each.......I really enjoyed it but not a box contender right now due to price for qty 10, but if cheaper, would buy them!

I think age is this cigars best friend as the complexity will only get better with time

9/10

Bart

I' coming to this party a bit late, I suppose. But I smoked a Gloriosos last evening and thought I would share.

This cigar was surprisingly "strong" to begin with. It had a real bite on the tongue and palate and a sting through the nose. I didn't find this unpleasant.

Funny thing is that cigar got milder the longer I smoked it -- as if the ligero leaf were put near the foot of the cigar rather than near the head, as is what I am used to in Cuban cigars.

As the cigar settled in I notice an undertone of honey graham cracker sweetness, which I loved. It was reminiscent of other LGC cigars -- most notably the Taino.

For a still young cigar the Gloriosos was quite approachable after the first half inch or so and increasingly so as I smoked it. Very complex and well balanced and sure to improve with more age. Five smoke rings now.

By the way, I was able to secure two boxes for about $130 US each box.
Go Reds!
