  1. A rather fruitful Sunday afternoon while out shopping with the missus, she gets her clothes and I get my wine: - a bottle of the 2012 Red Edge 71 Block Heathcote Shiraz - another bottle of the 2015 Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock Heathcote Shiraz - a couple of bottles of the 2010 Chateau Bouscasse Madiran by Alain Brumont
  2. Went to do the grocery run with the wife and couldn't resist these last two bottles on the shelf that were on sale: another couple of bottles of the 2015 Clonakilla O'Riada Canberra Shiraz.
  3. Some large formats: - another magnum of the 2014 Curtis Limited Series McLaren Vale Shiraz - a double magnum of the 2006 Two Hands Lily's Garden McLaren Vale Shiraz
  4. A couple of bottles each of the: - 2014 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon - 2010 Yarra Yering Dry Red No. 1 - 2010 Yarra Yering Dry Red No. 2
  5. Some random pickups today - you never know what you will find gathering dust at the smaller bottle shops: - another bottle of the increasingly rare and expensive Ardbeg Dark Cove, last bottle at a fraction of the retail price. - an older bottling of the Glenfarclas 12 Year Old, old stock sherry matureds are hard to come by. - another bottle of the discontinued Glenlivet 16 Year Old Nadurra, last bottle on the shelf and something I have not seen on the shelf for a long time.
  6. 2002 Irvine Grand Merlot. Very impressive but I feel the 2005 has a richer profile.
  7. A dram of Sullivan's Cove Single Cask.
  8. Some independent, single cask, cask strength bottlings of whisky: - A bottle of the 1991 Cambus 25 Year Old, single grain whisky that has been wholly matured in a sherry butt (no. 62929). Bottled by Whiskybroker. - A couple of bottles of the 1997 Glenrothes 19 Year Old, single malt whisky that has been wholly matured in a sherry butt (no. 15404). Bottled by the Whiskybase to commemorate the 90,000th whisky entry to the database.
  9. I had a short holiday in the Grampians over the Queen's Birthday long weekend with a couple of family friends and their families. What's a holiday in wine country without paying a visit to a couple of Victoria's premier wineries: Mount Langi Ghiran and Best's Great Western. Did a quick walk around the Best's historic 150 year old cellars and a more extensive tour of the extensive underground cellars of the neighbouring Seppelt's Great Western. Both impressively dug out by out of work gold miners of the day.
  10. More Aussie reds: - another magnum of the 2006 Warrenmang Estate the Black Puma Shiraz - another magnum of the 2004 d'Arenberg the Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon - another couple of bottles of the 2010 Mitolo Serpico Cabernet Sauvignon - a couple of bottles of the 2002 Elderton Ashmead Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon - 4 bottles of the 2002 Irvine Grand Merlot An odd pickup of a couple of 200ml bottles of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label:
  11. A couple of magnums of the 2014 Curtis Family Limited Release Shiraz.
  12. Guilty pleasures: a Romeo y Julieta Romeo No. 1 and some vintage red wine.
  13. Had this bottle over the weekend: Lovely and vibrant still with ample secondary character development to make an impressively complex wine. Having this tonight: Fruit has faded noticeably with the secondary profile. Opens up in the glass. Still an interesting and cerebral drink nonetheless. Subtle.
  14. Not this particular bottling but Yalumba is a very old and well established wine company that produces excellent value wine across all price brackets. Information on the web suggest what you've got there is an excellent wine that will give any serious Cotes du Rhone and probably quite a few Chateauneuf du Pape a serious run for the money.
  15. Enjoying a bottle of the 2002 Gibson Barossa Vale Shiraz - excellent wine that over delivers on its price.
