According to the producer, it is meant to be drunk in the first year or two after harvest. It did give the impression that it could stand up to more time, but I'm not sure it stands to gain in doing so. I'll have to put a few aside and see how it goes. We buy a corvina blend wine from Italy in a box that is meant to be drunk young as well. Great stuff, but only one place carries it locally. They were even reasonably priced in Sweden last time I was there, which is saying a lot since you're paying 4 USD for a 330 ml bottle of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and last time I asked my folks they were still readily available over there. I just looked around a bit and found it at a few online vendors, but from what I understand the Gold is produced specifically for the European market. I love Irish ones, like Redbreast and Yellow Spot. This one has more guts. Not peat like Scotch, but drier and the aroma when you are sipping it makes you want to pick a fight with someone compared to Jameson. Maybe because Jameson makes most of the stuff in Ireland anyway.
