My favorite..uni at jiros

A few years ago, my wife, who is a food and beverage photographer, was hired to shoot Garret Oliver, head brew master of Brooklyn Brewery, by a Belgian beer magazine.  Since the writer did not know Ma

Wendy's double with cheese with everything, fries, and a frosty.

I have fond memories (or the lack thereof) of my time in NYC...

Nothing quite like waiting along with the rest of the city at 4am after a night of drinking for some Mamouns.

I spent a month in New York and ate mamouns nearly every day. My nickname by the end of the trip was falafel!

A couple of meals at 'Gustos' self-service buffet restaurant in Rome, on honeymoon. Great occasion, great company, great choice, and a very pleasant surprise after being gubbed in all of the tourist trap eatouteries...

I'm not a huge fan of high brow dining because of its preciousness but I do eat out quite a bit and lots of casual restaurants that are very good. Best meal would be a toss up between some of my mother's cooking on special occasions, sushi at michelin star LA restaurants, and farm to table winebar type places. One of the best bites was perfectly cooked hangar steak with rocquefort butter, crispy onions with wild mushrooms and fingerling potatoes with creme fraiche all with this pinot/syrah blend red that caused me and a buddy to chew, lean back in our seats and take a deep breath it was that good.

I've eaten at a few nyc places that were recommended by a food snob friend of mine that all fell short so I suppose I've been a bit spoiled.

I eat well, too well but I do remember a chicken biryani in Yangon Myanmar last year. I was walking for 5 hours that morning including the last hour looking for this specific restaurant. Nothing too fancy but god I remember I could taste every flavor and every bite was a great taste. Ironically the plate of Biryani and sides cost $2.20

If you've got a few $$$ to throw down on a completely unique experience, I suggest é in Las Vegas. Impossible to get into, but amazing food.

If you're in Chicago and can get a reservation I highly recommend el Ideas. Another unique experience with amazing food. And it's BYO, so you can bust out some of your cellared stuff.

Great thread.

It really is hard to say 'best' meal or restaurant.

I have several of what I would call 'food moments.'

My highlights to date are:-

Cabeza de Cerdo at Ortiga in Brisbane

Oysters straight from a farm on Moreton Island

Moreton Bay Bugs at home

The Langoustine Linguini at Locanda Locatelli in London

A tasting plate at Roka in London

Braserade de boeuf at 1789 in Val D'Isere

My wife's Yum Nua

My barbecued quails

And a pineapple and mango I once had after a surf up Double Island Point

And so many more, but these moments are still vivid!

Buon Appetito!

St Elmo's is known for its huge shrimp cocktail with wasabi in the cocktail sauce (wow !)

Both are in Indianapolis , Indiana

Hard to beat !

Ken...yes absolutely amazing, also Bar Nestor, Martin Berasategui and Ibai (total sleeper)

I recon Martin Berasategui's is the best in San Sebastian. Out of it, Mugaritz, and Arzak it was hands down the best. Still not as good as the laundry, but dam good.

It's a tie for me...I have had the tasting menu at Per Se several times and it is always an experience I want to repeat as soon as possible

I celebrated my 50th with some generous friends at 11 Madison Park in NYC and the combination of the superb amd very imaginatve food and the company of 5 very good friends makes for a choice that's too tough to call

St. Elmo's in Indianapolis, Indiana. It's a classic steakhouse, but it's the company that makes it so special. My college friends get together every few years and we always meet at this restaurant. You can't beat the shrimp cocktail!!!

Wow, thats just a few blocks from my house! I live and own a business in downtown Indy.

Do you guys ever go to Nicky Blaine's or the Buddha Lounge when you're here?

They are two of our few remaining cigar friendly havens.

I"m very lucky to have lots of great resturants close by.

I just came back to the forum to post about the bone in ribeye I had last night at Webber Grill.

It was top notch!
