Bill Hayes
Sorry Ken, I made a blunder. The fish on the kitchen bench is what we call a kingfish. I should know. I've landed 3 of them on spear. Many reckon they taste better in the south where I am because the further north you go into warmer waters they contain worms apparently. I really like our kingfish as sashimi or island style from the belly. Fish ID has never been my strong point even after spending lots of hours in the water. I guess I just go after target species and ignore everything else. It's also interesting to see what different fish look like underwater, especially when deeper as the colour changes. Coral trout look a green/brown colour and blend in to the reef but are bright red when at the surface due to the red filtering out at depth. Bill Hayes
The weather gods actually smiled on us down here in Melbourne. Got out in Port Phillip Bay and landed a couple of nice flathead.

prodigy
No sir. Most of our tournaments this time of year are on a nuclear power plant lake. Water temps in the high 70s downlake, high 60s uplake. Fished a tournament there on Sunday and had three in the livewell before they’d released the last boats (field of 120). What lake/state?
