Question about Cayo Largo

So I've heard nice things and seen great pictures of Cayo Largo. Family wants to visit there in December. However, our question is about the flights there. It seems to be Cuba air, and we are worried about the safety of russian planes cared for by Cuban airlines. How bad are the flights? I know it's 25 min flight, but I don't want it to be a terribly exciting 25 minutes.

So... we researched this for our upcoming trip and some things changed on flights... there is only one flight each way per day and it only takes off if they sell enough tickets to make it worth flying... so you have no guarantee of actually getting there (or getting back) on the day/days you need to... because of that we have given up and decided to have our beach time at playa ancon.
