a nice little tasting and lunch

a couple of pics from yesterday's tasting and lunch with a few friends. nothing like a good 8 hour lunch to relax one (sadly no cigars involved).

we do a themed tasting every year - this year, top examples of Grand Cru Gevrey Chambertin - and follow it with a more relaxed lunch. a few of the tasting wines in brackets - and no idea why the underlining would not go away.

1.

1942 Thomas-Bassot Clos Des Ruchottes Chambertin

1973 Rousseau Mazis Chambertin

1986 Louis Trapet Latricieres Chambertin

2.

1997 Faiveley Clos de Bezé

1999 Faiveley Clos de Bezé

3.

1995 Rousseau Charmes Chambertin

1999 Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin

2002 Nicolas Potel Charmes Chambertin

2002 Henri Richard Charmes Chambertin

4.

1985  Rousseau Chambertin

1989  Rousseau Chambertin

2000 Rousseau Chambertin

2000 Denis Mortet Chambertin

5.

2010 Bernstein Clos de Bezé

2010 Bernstein Mazis Chambertin

2010 Boillot Chambertin

2014 Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru

sadly, the 85 Rousseau corked badly (i envy future generations for whom a corkscrew will be a trivia question). wine of the day, the amazing 89 Rousseau, but plenty of stars.

lunch wasn't bad either - magnum of Dom Ruinart 1996, old Lustau Amontillado, a couple of Zind Hembrechts from 02 and 03, Bonneau du Martray 2013, Clonakilla 2005, Jamet 2005, Bell Hill 2004, Jasper Hill 2006, Clerico Ginestet Barolo 2005, magnum of Donnhoff Riesling 'Dellchen' 2009 and a few others.

Hi Ken

Hope you are keeping well. An all star line up there. Who supplies the wines? Is it BYO? Also what's the general view on Burgundy in light of ever increasing prices? Are folks in AUS still buying EP in the same way?

Best
