Popular Post 99call
So this is the cigar that seems to have punctuated various points in my life, I'd had a few singles around 1998-99 when I when I had begun sampling singles form Geneva. the mix bags included thing like Quai D'Orsay Gran Coronas, and Gispert Habaneros i.e crazy bags with no direction whatsoever. It was a weird time, as I was way to young to be developing a passion for cigars, but it did instil a conviction that it would be something that I would one day love. In terms of what I was up to. I'd left college, and was working in catering, to fund heading off to Australia for adventures. The second experience of the cigar was in Chardonnay cigar bar in Tokyo in around about 2005, and now MKZ has been gracious enough to provide me with a part box that could of been sat next the box I got my original singles from back in 1999. Appearance: lovely slightly boxed pressed long panatela. smooth dusky colorado Aroma cold: Dank wet bark, biscuit, dried flowers 1st 3rd: I find the first third of any aged skinny is usually a very watery, clean version of what it will become, and this is no different. Very accurate lilting touches of burnt molasses, hay, dried flowers, green pepper, galangal 2nd 3rd: The cigar is a really unusual mix of lush green aspects and dark dank aspects. If I were to say it's evocative of something, it reminds me of the smell of Old victorian Botanical garden houses in the uk. very lush and vetegal, but also musky and brooding. Specific flavours remain Galangal, dried flowers, and burnt molasses, but it's all gotten creamier, and more intense 3rd 3rd: The cigar is a great deal more open now, and strong, retrohaling is intense, and intoxicating, there is something so unusual in the profile of this cigar. I whole heap of oak tannins has come in, the sweetness if treacle like now, and the green pepper is now roasted Final thoughts: I have a great deal of affection for this cigar, for the memories that it evokes, but also because it's quite an overwhelming cigar. It's unusual and challenging. Many may not find it directly 'enjoyable', as it's not direct, if a Party D4 is a wonderful home cooked meal, a ERDMGDE is odd meal in Noma where the learning value sometimes is much greater than, what could be called simple pleasure. Big thanks to MKZ for getting some of these gems in my humidor, Hats off 11
