Romeo y Julieta Exhibition 4 HQ

Recommended Posts

Quite many posts on this forum deal with inconsistency in blend / construction regards the

R & J marca -

this example was a strong reminder of what has made Romeo y Julieta great.

Rolling: immaculate, not the slightest box press to it (from a dress box!),

firm long "salt and pepper" ash, smoking time 1h 20min.

Beautiful colorado colorado wrapper with a touch of red, thin but silky-tensile, oily.

Aroma / draw at cold: sweet tobacco, perfect draw after thumbnail - ("cuban") clip.

Opening and first third:

creamy cocoa, like melted chocolate couverture; morella cherry, cedar, (a touch of coffee).

Second third:

more of first third, plus:

a beautiful toastiness like fresh baked bread, roasted almonds,

occasionally a touch of liquorice.

Final third:

toasted tobacco / bread character, fresh cut cedar, no harsh or bitter edge whatsoever, nutty;

dark cherries waved good-bye at the last but one draw,

some lovely incense at the very end.

An occasional faint "mint" note in the second half

- which I more commonly associate with young cigars -

tells me that this box, however terrific now, has a great future ahead.

Being a concert violinist and yet burning my fingers at less than 1cm remaining,

that means something!

Frightfully, almost shockingly good!

94/100

I remember picking that box

Construction was perfect. the wrappers had that tensile reddish hue wrapper. Aroma at cold slight sweetness.

All in all the perfect R&J Exhibicion No 4 and the result was thankfully spectacular.

Unfortunately these days I don't see many R&J 4 (or many R&J at all) with that necessary mix to ensure a great cigar. I get excited when I do.

Thank for sharing this positive review of one of my favorite cigars of the 90s. Returning to cigars after an interruption of ten years, the R&J Exhibition 4 was the first box I bought and although from 2008 was and still is quite a disappointment. Thank for giving me back faith in at least some of them!

Best,

Michel
