Esplendidos on a resplendent morning. UME ABR 15

Continuing my tasting of 2016 Cuban customs, this is an Alex Churchill, probably now the best of the customs I brought home. I can only describe it as a beautiful beast. Not unlike a Boli Tubo No.1, in that it combines floral notes with a seriously full body. Absolutely brilliant, but I definitely needed to eat something afterwards! The pic makes it look a little darker than it actually was.

Revisiting a couple of customs today. Yolanda No.2 has been fireproof until now, but this was all good. Reynaldo Cañonazo was like a windsock until I figured out why. Lol

Today’s Punch DC from MAE JUN 14 is far outclassing yesterday Cohiba Esplendidos from UME ABR 15.

People always seem to be seduced by overly fancy dishes on a curry house menu, but a curry house that does the basics well is worth its weight in gold. Keep it simple. Lamb Bhuna.

OSR NOV 11 Hoyo Churchill

A real biggie today - HdM Maravillas from 2016. At 55rg by 233mm, cigars don’t come much bigger than this monster (see pic for comparison with a Trini Fundadores). A generous gift from a colleague, this beauty has been sitting in my desktop humi for a couple of years. Today’s the day! Draw is a bit on the looser side (I used a punch cutter), but burn has been perfect without needing touching up. Very little evolution, just creamy, nutty goodness all the way. Beautiful!

Alex Lancero from May 16. Monstrously strong when fresh, these have balanced out nicely over time. Nutty, sweet and creamy. Like SP without the saltiness.
