Are all Double Coronas “mild”?
havanaclub7 replied to Webbo's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
I have always been a fan of DCs and Churchills. I love how the cigars change profiles three times over the 2 hour smoke. I also love how they smoke cooler than a small cigar like a corona. Since DCs and Churchills are larger vitolas there is more tobacco involved and in my mind more chance for nuance in the blend. I had a Lusi the other day that was absolutely gorgeous. I have some Punch DCs that I cannot wait to try that are lying down now. I hope FOH gets some 25 boxes of Hoyo DCs and some Esplendidos again. I am so mad that Habano SA dropped Bolivar CGs and Vegas Robania Don Alejandros. For those wanting a stronger Churchill experience the Boli CGs are amazing if you can find a box somewhere. -
Anyone heard of a scotch called Glen Taite?
havanaclub7 replied to havanaclub7's topic in Wine Beer Spirits
I'm not sure if anyone cares or not, but I thought I'd post a follow up which might pique some interest. It appears that the Glen Taite offering is a "private label" which purchased excess aged scotch from the Macallan distillery. Macallan says that they sell off some of their aged whiskies if there isn't sufficient demand to bottle them under the Macallan label. From what I've read on Whiskey boards, it's a good whiskey and price at $99 a bottle from Sam's Club. Costco has a similar offering of a 19 year old Macallan under yet a different label for a similar price. -
Gentlemen, I was at my local Sam's Club and they were offering a scotch called Glen Taite. It's a 19 year old scotch and the bottle said that it's from the makers of Macallan. The price is $99. I've googled this scotch several times and can't find anything about it. I was hoping one of our resident scotch experts might be able to provide info. on this offering. Thanks!

New Humidor/Cigar Porn
havanaclub7 replied to havanaclub7's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
My new desktop humidor finally arrived today! It was handcrafted in solid Bubinga wood with ebony accents. There's something really awesome about a pyramid and I can't think of a better place for cigars to rest under. Now, I need to get my order together for the big sale so I can fill 'er up! -

Colt, I was thinking more along the lines of this picture where Ken's hair is a little bit longer in the back. Don't pay attention to what Ken is doing in the picture. Still, I think the resemblance is remarkable! -

Is it just me, or does the guy on the right look like he could be one of Ken's relatives? P.S. Who changed my post??? -

Smokum, Great watch!!! Wow, that's awesome. I've had the honor of walking up to Air Force One to meet the President as he came off the plane. It's a pretty awesome experience. Air Force One is really one of the symbols of our country and it's truly a beautiful sight! You're lucky to have such a great watch!

Habanos Quality Control

What is it, the new Upmann Prince Charles? (Who famously had phone sex with Camilla where he expressed the desire to be her tampon.) -
Too bad you poisoned the honey with the spray! There is nothing better than eating fresh honey off a comb! One of my parents' friends was a bee keeper and we always got honey on the comb.

From Reuters... Resort plans nude "anything goes" party Thu Nov 13, 2008 9:42am EST CANBERRA (Reuters) - An Australian holiday resort will hold a month-long, nude "anything goes" party to combat an expected economic downturn, media reports said on Thursday. "Tough economic times call for stiff measures," Tony Fox, the owner of the White Cockatoo resort in Mossman, in tropical Queensland state, told the Courier-Mail newspaper. "It will be a hedonism resort, where anything goes for a month. It doesn't take rocket science to work out what it means," Fox said, naming March as the risque party month. The controversial "clothes optional" resort made headlines three years ago when police were called to end partner-swapping parties after a swathe of public complaints. "You've got to wonder what sort of people go and why. Where is the moral code of behavior and how do you stop jealousies and fights?" Cairns Catholic Bishop James Foley said after Fox's announcement. But local regional Mayor Val Schier said she was not opposed to the event as long as no laws were broken. "People in tropical north Queensland are extraordinarily creative," Schier said. "It is tough economic times and as long as it is with consenting adults, then there is no problem." Australia's tourism in industry is being hit hard by global economic turmoil with official figures showing a 7.6 percent decline in overseas visitors in September. Industry leaders expect holiday bookings may drop by up to a third in early 2009 and are planning a new international advertising campaign to coincide with the movie "Australia" starring Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman. Fox said his resort was almost fully booked for the month-long rainforest party.

I agree 100% about the Mumm Cordon Rouge. It's my standard Champer and can be had for under $30 if you shop right. I've had Dom with cigars on a few occasions. To be honest, I paired Dom with Davidoff Anniversarios and Double <>s before I started with Cuban Cigars. I'd also bet Cristal would match well with cigars. It typically has a heavier body than other champers which would match well with cigars -- especailly anything that's pretty creamy. I also think that Krug, Bollinger and Tattinger would pair well with some cigars for the same reason. You can get good non-vintage Bollinger and Tattinger in the $40 range if you shop right. I'm not sure about the cigar pairings, but you can also find N/V Champers like Piper Heidsieck, Nicholas Feuillatte and Duval Leroy for under $30 a bottle. All three are respectable champagnes and the N/V Duval Leroy has even made the Wine Spectator Top 100 list with scores around 93 points (if you care about ratings).

havanaclub7 replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Prez, I'd be careful if I were you, as I assume they have "You Tube" Down Under. And with the easy accessiility to camera phones, etc., it's only a matter of time before we see Ayala's "junk" on the net courteousy of one of the sleepover victims. -

havanaclub7 replied to laficion's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Would you be doing the same had McCain been elected? Somehow, I don't think so. It surprises me that so many of our members are such fans of Obama. It wasn't McCain's party that implemented city-wide, then state-wide smoking bans. And Obama wants confiscatory tax rates. But, we'll have to wait and see what he actually implements versus the campaign rhetoric. -
