Have we reached cigarmageddon?
GavLew79 replied to Rhinoww's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
I disagree. I used to think so. I smoked 95+% Cubans for nearly 10 years. Nothing could touch them. However, this last 12-18 months I've been exploring the New World. I can now smoke $10-15 sticks that are really good. Every day. Think RomaCraft, Tatuaje, Illusioné, Espinosa, Crowned Heads, Room 101, Caldwell, Foundation, JSK, ...and many more. If Habanos want to price me out, fine. I'll smoke my ageing Cubans as an occasional treat until they're gone, and they can go f-themselves. Brand loyalty means nothing to them. So I'll reciprocate. -

Great prime rib. Only been to the Ottawa one. -
Cohiba 55th Launch Event in Kuwait
GavLew79 replied to Ryan's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Superb mate. Watched the live stream. Sound was awful. Looks stunning. I've seen one-five-seven euros per stick mentioned on a list. Whilst that is obscene, it's also not that obscene. A BHK will cost you more. -

Tag yourselves if you were at JJFox. Would be nice to put faces to names. @ha_banos I know, and met Rich Bernard, had a chat with @El Presidente and @bayala Saw @Ryan but didn't get a chance to chat before leaving. Privileged. Massive thanks. Great evening. -
Is it the right time to buy CC stock?
GavLew79 replied to therealrsr's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
What else would you do with the cash? Inflation is set to soar for a while yet. Consider the opportunity cost of buying them (what else could you have spent the money on). If the enjoyment of CCs outweighs the fun or economic benefit from spending elsewhere, go for it. You don't have to get nerdy and calculate the NPV of all the opportunities, but if you dumped 10k on cigars, would that leave you in a hole with the mortgage rate if it jumped to 10% in 12 months time? It's all relative. They're fantastic things, but not worth getting in a financial mess over. If you have plenty of coin, plough in!👍🏻 -
Travel Diary: and we're off!

Will be good to finally meet after all these years! Safe travels. I guess for Sydney to London, you still have to go via Dubai, yeah? -
Friends of Habanos Name change?
GavLew79 replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
When PESTLE factors knock on the door, pivoting is a great opportunity. I love Cuban cigars, but they're eventually going to price me out, when I can get a great smoke elsewhere for $10 or less a stick. I'm fine with "I used to smoke Cubans" if that's the way they want to play it. Whatever you choose Rob, I'm sure it will be superb. -
Cohiba Atmosphere Wine
GavLew79 replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
I didn't realise we had a Cohiba Atmosphere in the UK? I thought they were in Eastern Europe. How much will this hurt? Well into 3 figures a bottle, or 4? -

Plenty in the UK Rob! 😀👍🏻 Although now looking at £600 vs. £300 release price, from the gougers anyway. -
A Reflection of National Debt
GavLew79 replied to cgoodrich's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
So if the US is borrowing money, and we're (UK) borrowing money, and you're borrowing money (insert any country), who's doing all the lending against a promised future payback? Who are the creditors? I used to think China. But isn't China's economy in the toilet as well? -
Bitcoin Price Prediction

Anyone want to have a stab at Ethereum for 2022? I'd plump for $15k USD. -
Instead of :full-bodied:, I use 'full-flavoured'. Avoids the confusion that people have confusing body and strength.

Havana Syndrome : Best Explanation?
GavLew79 replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
HPM weapons are indeed a thing, I saw them demonstrated as early as 2009. This could indeed cause pain, cellular damage and all sorts of random effects. But as Bijan has noted, detection is easy, all you need is an Electric field strength meter or, if you want to know a bit more, spectrum analyser. So if not RF energy, it could be sound. Inaudible of course, so it could be infra-sound or ultra-sound, but the ear still may be sensitive to large magnitude waves; hence the hearing damage. Ultrasound can be used for movement detection and ranging of objects Infra-sound I don't know much about, other than perhaps hearing tales of making people vomit, poo their pants or other involuntary bodily, er, machinations. I suspect foul play. Look at what Western militaries experimented with on their own troops, back in the day. Given where our adversaries are today in terms of morals and scientific advancement, I'd say they are experimenting on unwelcome guests. -

Desnudo /Nudie update
GavLew79 replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
And put it this way...they already knock spots of most things coming out of the RP factory! 2021/2022 should be stellar! That nudge of sweetness should be 👌🏻 -

Absolutely; and add to that the inaugural blend! Fascinating how they've changed. It goes against the "NCs don't age because they're already aged" myth. Good luck with the new batch! -

Revisiting the 2019 N1. Quite an unruly beast on release, and I didn't enjoy all of them. Now there's only two left and they're singing. 😢 Looking forward to pick up the new blend Rob. 👍🏻
