  1. Now I'm excited! I love finding good cheapies. Thanks for the info.
  2. I love Quinteros. To me they have great flavours which I know some might find strange. Have you ever tried the Panetelas? I just noticed them while making a purchase and think I should give them a try.
  3. Has anyone seen or participated in a NC blind taste test? I haven't but would guess that the success rate would be similar to the Cuban test.......... Or are the guys guessing the NC correctly at a higher percentage rate?

    Relative humidity and temperature

I was referring to the temperature/RH humidity relationship in terms of how it affects water content in cigars (this being a cigar forum). Which I assumed was rather self explanatory and quite simple to understand from Piggy's post.

Thanks for this pig. This is probably the simplest explanation you will ever see detailing the temperature/RH relationship.

    Customs, Customs and Factura's

I used a bank. Walked in. Exchanged money. Walked out. Now you have to tell us your story. You have me me curious as to what happened.

Here's a quick update after my trip. ATMs work fine in Havana. I had one day when they didn't but the next day they were working again. Money exchange queue at Jose Marti airport was insane. Better option is to run upstairs. Money exchange queue upstairs was shorter. Best option is to use the ATM upstairs next to the money exchange to get some CUCS and then exchange money at a bank in Havana. FYI the ATM at the airport will let you enter your own amount to withdraw but won't give you any money and will simply return your card. Seems it is limited CUC100 at a time so just do multiple withdrawals. Took a while to figure this one out [emoji41]. LCDH take credit cards but as previously stated only take cash for custom rolls. The hotel Nacional has ashtrays for sale again. As you enter the lobby turn left and they are for sale at the counter on your left hand side. I didn't see any large ones but plenty of small sizes. This one was CUC25. I hope this helps.
  9. I smoke PC and robustos more than any other sizes. The reason for this is two fold. Firstly, when it comes time to purchasing cigars I always find it easier to justify the price of the smaller vitolas and I thus tend to shy away from larger formats. Secondly, when I open my humi I tend to gravitate to smaller vitolas because of the time factor and I'm always worried I'll grab a large cigar and something will get in the way of me finishing it. Having said that I mostly bought large size customs on my recent Cuban trip. So I guess I'll now make an effort to smoke more larger cigars. I'm also dieing to try the Boli Gigantes as I love the marca so I see this as a definite near future purchase.

Is the taking of gifts to Cuba still relevant?

Great timing on this thread. My wife and I are staying at 3 different casa's in Havana and Vinales. We were trying to decide what to take as gifts. Tops so far is chocolate so I'll keep an eye on this thread. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

    Customs, Customs and Factura's

I knew cash was king but figured my CC would be fine at the LCDH [emoji26]. Anyone try drawing cash from an ATM in Havana? I'm hoping to avoid taking mountains of cash with me and it would be great to use an ATM for restocking cash. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Sorry but one last question. Do LCDH take credit cards (non-US) for either box or custom roll purchases? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Thanks. I was about to ask for some rum recommendations. I wanted to get some Santiago. Also I thought a facturo was simply the till receipt. So I guess it's some sort of official document?

Good to know. Would rather grab bottles as I'm leaving.
