  1. 2015 Habaneros are pretty darn good right about nw.
  2. Give them some time to mellow in the humidity. I have both the Favorito and Petit Quintero and they have become quite good. Hang in there and reply back in about 6 most on them!
  3. Tampa is the most cigar friendly area in Florida and has a LOT of great cigar places. Rob - also some really good fishing! Ybor city is only a half hour away. WOO-HOO, I'm up for this!!! RR - Sarasota, FL
  4. Thoughts on another few CC's; Vergueros Mananitas...funny looking short belicoso that has reviews from very good to abject dog rocket. I find these to be pretty good little hour long cigars which are a bit one dimensional in the taste department throughout. These do start out mild and definitely build to be relatively potent by the last third. Flavors seem to be earthy, leather, woody with a light bit of spice and coffee. Draw and burn have been very good in my experience and the ash holds well. Another cigar that I have shared with friends and received positive comments. Good enough for ordering another box. Super Partagas...Simply a great little inexpensive habano. One of my favorites and the price is sub $100. A no-brainer. I stock up on these. IMHO - tastes like a D-4 Light. PLMC... many love this one - simply not my thing. I found this one forgettable and was underwhelmed. I prefer the PLP. Party Habaneros... In for a couple of boxes based upon the comments I've read on them. Have not tried them yet, but as of late, price is too attractive not to take advantage of. I expect that these will not disappoint, as I have not run into a Partagas I didn't like! ** Update on the Habaneros; from a box may 2016 - Tried a couple so far ROTT and they are really good! One swelled to the point that the wrapper split, but the binder held with no draw issues. Otherwise was a great cigar. Flavors are definitely Partagas with the sourdough twang flavors, dark tobacco and a bit of strong coffee in the background. Home run on this one. Worth having a few boxes in reserve! Please excuse poor spelling and ignorant opinions. YMMV
  5. I agree - not impressed with the MC at all. Love the PLP and PLPC lots!
  6. Here are some thoughts on a few C&C's that are new to me; Quintero Favoritos... been discussed here a lot with opinions ll over the place. Got a box of 25 from early 2017 and they are amazingly good ROTT. A friend & I fired some up a day after receiving and found the 1st and last thirds to have very nice tastes with leather & light coffee/cocoa. Middle third was a little green, but fortunately changed. Now, this is only based on two cigars, but based on that I ordered more. Draw & burn was good and ash held like a D-4! IMHO, great bang for the buck. Belinda Corona Tubos...FUGLY little stick, but good size, good burn and good draw. Unlit aroma is amazing, but alas, these are mild with very light flavors & light body. Light finish, no harshness. Primarily nice grassy taste notes, light tobacco flavors. Not bad at all - good 'farm rolled' sticks with coffee. Much better than I've read. Good for beginners & cigar mooches. PLP... also been discussed here a LOT. Light in strength, but good flavors with no harshness. (from a box of late mid 2017) Another that is good ROTT. Light grassy, twangy, earthy, nice tobacco notes. Pleasant surprise - ordered another box after enjoying a few. Another great bang for the buck. I simply do not get how some have said these have no flavor. These little sticks are quite good. I am pleased with all of these and will order each again. All of these performed for me better than some 1st tier cigars that were considerably more costly and not as good. My usuals are habanos like Party Shorts, D4's, RYJ Cazzies, BPC all of the Mag series, etc. Again, these opinions are IMHO - your experiences may vary.
  7. Most have been pretty fugly for me, although I just received a box that was full of nearly ideal looking little beauties. Thought they were something else that was ordered they're so nice. Darn tasty as well. Definitely gonna order another box or few to see if luck might strike again!
  8. Power back on last Tuesday - just got cable back tonite. Missing what happened everywhere else. Ready to get back to following college football and ML Baseball!
  9. Hurricane ready with a little humor. Sand patch was 3 yards of sand we brought in for our neighborhood association. Went pretty quick! Since yesterday AM, filled hundreds of sandbags, boarded up and moved neighbor's outdoor furniture. Had 8 pieces of pizza, 4 beers(so far), plenty of ibuprofen and 25-30 cups of water. Beat to he'll - lots of work for an old cat! Under mandatory evacuation in our zone (12 ft above sea level). Locating to friends' home in higher elevation area. Funny that weather forecast I see or clear, calm, sunny skies come Tuesday!
  10. Here in Sarasota, FL. Have mandatory evacuation order in effect now for our zone near the ICW. Hope it stays to the east - would be wonderful if it were to miraculously hook back into the Atlantic, but not gonna happen. Went through Charlie in Orlando, but Irma is another animal - one to be taken seriously. Boarded up and sandbagged. Stocked on water, flashlights, batteries and beer. Rains already starting with two days to go! Prayers go out to those in the Caribbean islands and now, Cuba.
  11. Need some sage input here, as this has me stumped. Was enjoying a PLPC last night and about half way through, an extremely bitter taste suddenly came through and held for the next few draws. Thought about tossing it, but decided to re-trim the head. That did the trick and all went back to it's usual great taste. Only have had that occur once before and on that occasion I saw a very small bead of black at the cut head. Both times, I had used a V-cut from a quality cutter. That taste is not to be forgotten - something akin to toxic sludge! Cigars are kept at 68 deg. f and 62%, with excellent draw and burn. What could possibly be the cause of this horrible taste and accumulation at the cut? BTW, no cat litter, no cats in the house and the dogs don't mess with the wineador, so couldn't be a dog-rocket thing! So...
  12. Find a cigar friendly pub with a good happy hour! Have a few good ones here on the Florida Gulf Coast. Hope you find some relief!
  13. Gum arabic. I've successfully repaired worse on a few that were just too nice to toss. No affect on flavor or burn. Great stuff. The cigar will be a little fugly, but otherwise just fine.
  14. Personally, not impressed. Vastly prefer the PLPC.
  15. Down here y'all call it Blanton's bourbon! Happy 1st to our Canadian neighbors to the north and happy 4th to us heathens in the good 'ole USA!
  16. Know it's late, but this is still a good one! A young Kindergarten teacher addresses her class and explains they would have a show and tell for the afternoon. With all the kids brimming with excitement, she holds up a shiny ripe red Braeburn and asks the kids what it is. Hands fly up everywhere. The teacher calls on little Suzie, “OK Suzie, what is this fruit?” The swift reply is ”it’s an apple, teacher”. “Very good, Suzie, come get your apple!” Next, the teacher holds up a bunch of round, ripe, purple Concords. “Who knows what these are?” Again, hands shoot up all around! “Sally, what do you think?” Sally replies that they are grapes! “Very good, Sally, come get your grapes”. Last item the teacher holds up is a small, foil wrapped pyramid chocolate candy. “Who knows what this is?” Nothing, not a single hand goes up. Teacher is perplexed and asks again with not a single reply. She calls on little Timmy to come up to her desk, unwraps the candy and puts it in his mouth. “Timmy, do you know now?” Still nothing! The teacher decides to give the kids a hint…”it’s what your mommy gives your daddy just before bed at night”. Suddenly little Tommy shouts out, “spit it out Timmy, that there’s a piece of ass!”
  17. Just think...this might just be either a really late or really early April Fools tweet from the Donald, uh, the prez ( not you, Rob), I mean the US President and twitter in chief. He's probably a connoisseur of fine cigars and really doesn't mean to sell us down the river just so's those selfish Canucks can get all the CC goodies! At least we still have a great exchange rate going for us!
  18. C'mon Rob...everybody knows our gov't does clusterf**ks so very well!
  19. Wow! Seems like throwing stones whilst living in a glass house. WE sell arms to Saudi Arabia... France included and a host of others. Let's all be big enough boys to take the blame.
  20. Like the OP, I was on the search for a serious upgrade in coffee. After scouring this thread, took the plunge and bought an Aeropress. AWESOME COFFEE! The search is over and coffee nirvana has been found! I'm a happy dude!
  21. That second hearse dog is worth his weight in premium habanos! Atta boy!
