  1. Just back from a successful trip to Scotland. Some pickups from a springbank tour (highly recommended!) and some shopping in Edinburgh.
  2. I like the plpc, I think they’re a good value way for someone to buy a 50 box and experience a cigars evolution over time (providing you don’t power through a box in a few months). They aren’t a super premium but they don’t charge that money either. If you go in expecting the flavour and complexity of an Sir Winnie, then you are going to be let down. I would say they are also far less polarising than the rass (which I am still yet to be won over by).
  3. I’ve seen a few articles on this now. It turns out that a significant amount of ‘Japanese’ whisky is actually imported and just bottled in Japan. https://www.vice.com/en/article/xgznpn/japan-whisky-labeling-rules What does everyone think of this? The Japanese whisky market certainly has sky-rocketed over the last few years now, would we all still be happy to pay the premium placed on bottles if we knew it was actually distilled elsewhere?
  4. Happy birthday Kim! Hopefully you get a chance to get out and about to enjoy a cigar before too long! +
  5. Enjoying a break from work with an epicure especial on the coast. I’m glad the nice weather is hanging on for a couple more weeks!
  6. I think wales need to gradually start replacing some of their older or underperforming big names if they want to build anything for the next World Cup or even just avoid a number of years of absolute pastings. While Gatland was a great head coach I think some players in that side were guaranteed their places for too long. I would want to see a transition period of around 2 years, then start really building that side for the World Cup. I think they should start to pick players playing in other leagues as while it’s great for promoting the regions, it’s not massively helpful in building
  7. My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too - Glengoyne cask strength, Deanston 17 year old port finish, kilkerran 12, a Dufftown Glenlivet rum cask finish and 10 year old Tomatin from Cadenheads. Also picked up an Oban gin to try out. The small bottle is from a blending tour I did at Glengoyne. A mix of 18-20 year old sherry and bourbon casks. Good stuff!
  8. July was supposed to be a big month for me with a trip to Cuba all planned and paid for from the start of the year....... obviously that didn’t go ahead! But I have been very fortunate to be able to make it back home to the UK for the summer and have enjoyed having the contents of my locker sent out to me (despite having no time to actually sit and enjoy one....). I will put up the collection of pictures in the ‘latest purchase’ thread when all have arrived, but I did particularly enjoy seeing these Du Prince arrive in the post. I think these were one of my first 24:24 purchases and I
  9. An oldie but goodie. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4hhOU2BBeo
  10. Nice to see a few Tudor’s around. Here’s my Black Bay with blue bezel
  11. I enjoyed a magnum 54 on a warm afternoon today.
  12. Welcome back! It's funny how fast a couple of years can fly by!
  13. A couple of big smokes for me in the past few days. A Romeo de luxe and a Lusitania. Gotta make the most of the free time while we have it!
  14. Making the most of a power cut with a Leyenda in the shade
  15. I’m not averse to a change in boxes and it’s nice to see some effort being made. I’m not sure if its the pictures but the colour of these boxes looks pretty unappealing to me, maybe they’re better looking in the flesh?
  16. I don’t think you can go wrong with most prominentes. My favourite is the Punch DC, but I tend to smoke more lusitanias. I have found the hoyo DC to be the most hit and miss for me personally. There are plenty of people who rate them very highly though so I won’t give up on them yet.
  17. A Trinidad Vigia for me this afternoon. Seems to be a bit of a Trinidad day today!
  18. Here in Egypt things are fairly similar to around the world. The airport is shut and there is a night time curfew. The infection rate seems to be picking up quite a bit here. The restrictions were relaxed for Ramadan (the 7pm curfew was moved to 9pm) and people seem to have stopped paying much attention to it. Interestingly though, they Recently announced that the death rate for April was actually down 2.8% for April compared to the last two years. Hopefully things turn around a bit soon, I would like to be able to fly home during the summer.
  19. These results aren’t what I was expecting, there are a lot more passes than I would have assumed. The Epi 2 particularly is taking a bit of a beating at the moment. While I’m not a big fan of them, I find them pretty inoffensive so didn’t opt to pass on them. I will be interested to see what the initial theory was
  20. An early afternoon P2 for me today, no idea of box code. It’s great that it’s heating up here, just a shame I can’t get out and enjoy it!
  21. Thanks for the recommendation. I picked it up at the weekend and am almost done, very enjoyable stuff. Ken Follett’s Pillars of the Earth is definitely worth a read. I’ve been working my way through the Wheel of Time books. I’m up to book 5 now, while enjoyable I am finding them slightly frustrating at times
  22. While the current Coronavirus situation is awful, it has given me the chance to experience.... working from home! I have no idea how some people manage to do this on a regular basis. A great start to my day and not being too unproductive.
  23. Early finishes at work now, so may as well make the most of the afternoon! A 2017 (I think...) lancero in the sun with a coffee and a coke
  24. What a difference a day makes. Sun’s out today and most of the clear up from the flooding is done and power and water are slowly being restored. So a 2016 Punch 48, a slice of lemon drizzle cake and I opened a bottle of red. I made the cake last night when we lost power (the first time I’ve been thankful for a gas oven), it came out okay!
