  1. 2016 HU Mag 50 from 10 ct. Probably the highest rated box overall I’ve ever had. Every single one was a solid mid 90s for me. Would never have guessed that going in based on the age, no name code, and just my overall thoughts on the line, but it “outsmoked” various vintages of even my beloved Sir Winston. Who knew
  2. Take this fwiw, but sometimes you just have to get out of the game for a while to truly enjoy what you have. By that, I mean the stock you already have in your possession, of course, but more importantly family and other interests (assuming those exist outside of cigars, lol). I personally took a break from purchasing cigars for a few months and pursued other interests (finally spending some real time learning blues guitar) and made an effort to free up obligations in order to spend more time with my daughter. Personally, “out of sight, out of mind” worked pretty well for me and I’ve enjoyed this hobby more since coming back with more reasonable expectations and a few ground rules for myself. I think you just have to ask yourself what’s the end game and when does it stop. For me, I couldn’t see the light at the other end so had to make some changes after I amassed hundreds of boxes in a short period of time. Now, my budget *mostly* allowed for that, but I really got to pondering how I could be redirecting that for other future goals, projects/investments, etc. Now I’m working through my collection and enjoying the goods even more for whatever reason and don’t feel any buyers remorse when just purchasing a box or two per month. Just my take on your predicament. Now, off to peruse the weekend sale ?
  3. From a kind and generous friend. First time seeing these and they look fantastic. Construction is absolutely on point and the aroma is slightly damp trampled hay/manure. Depends on what does it for you, but that certainly does it for me LOL! LGR JUN 18 Rio Secos
  4. @cfc1016 Smoking one of your favorites tonight! Petit Royales aren’t too bad either, @cfc1016 ?
  5. Did you stop by Union Cigar Society in Seattle? That’s a local shop for me and wouldn’t be surprised if they recommended that Warped! I’ve bought plenty from them over the years. ?
  6. Trying some new stuff in the NC world that I’ve been noticing recently. Have a good lineup ready to go with one solid backup plan should any of these fail me. ?
  7. Great idea for a comparison! For me, I get a very strong cumin/cilantro/ground beef flavor from the Tacos. Some hearty corn tortilla notes on the fringes as well that play off the savory beef notes just wonderfully. Love them! A true staple around our home. As for the RyJ Churchills - these tend to exhibit a refined nutty/fruity/cedary flavor profile with a nice floral component in the aroma. Medium-full body with a buttery mouth-coating smoke. So, to summarize - different experiences altogether from a sensory perspective, IMHO.
  8. Any updates on these? It’s been just over a month since the last post, so I’m curious if anyone can now comment on how these are looking and/or smoking. Box code/factories? I find that I just can’t say no to a good 109...
  9. A few from the last few ?... RASS - ULA FEB 14 - stunning, super funky (barnyardyness?) richness. Monte 80th - UAO NOV 17 - Big, toasty, chocolate bomb. Medium body and tasty as can be. Buttery aroma while smoking. Too bad so pricey! Punch Corona - 1995 something else. No sweetness but just sheer earthy, hay and coffee. Really nice and unique. Cohiba Corona Especiales - REG MAY 18 - fresh - rich, grassiness prevails. Almost put me on my ass with nicotine. Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto - UEB DIC 17 - Wow, did I ever write these off way too soon! Toasty goodness that makes me love the marca even more (doesn’t take much as it’s already my favorite Cheers! -BG
  10. MUR JUL 13 A few others that made the Holidays even better. Cheers!
  11. Smoking this MEG 16 Connie A in honor of my favorite Upmann fanatic ? @cfc1016
  12. AMO Siglo VI...so good it turned my world upside down. Yack yack...I’ll be here all week. Literally. (I’m sorry for this post)
  13. MUR 13 - what a treat! I’d like to think this is how these were always intended to taste. Unfortunately, it’s a profile I don’t come across very often, because it certainly ranks extremely high in my book. Cheers
  14. My past self must really like me because he already did.
  15. Rare photo of Boli Tesoro captured in its natural habitat. Great find!
  16. Butterscotch bomb ‘17 Sir Winnie with undertones of red pepper spice and warm, rum-soaked raisins. And my “most-owned” cigar with a favorite sipper. Cheers!
  17. I kid, I kid. If your “top two” were a question repeated 150 times on a collge final, I’d score 100% plus extra cred and be off to Spring Break boozing faster than a box of chicos hits flame in AK ?
  18. Super jealous! Congrats gents/ladies! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. “Fancy night” with ‘04 Sublime and my favorite Scotch. Scotch was absolutely drop dead gorgeous stellar (as expected). Sublime very meh. The latter may sound like sacrilege to some, but I’m a fan of younger “vibrant”/rich smokes. Finished off the night with the real treat being a 2017 Party Presidentes. Who knew?! Lol. Cheers all!
