  1. Hello friends, happy holidays and happy new year from New York. I'm taking the wife to St Barts for our anniversary, just curious if any of you fine folks have been...would love some insight...about anything and everything if you're willing. Hope everyone is well, love this forum. Solid people. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  2. Friend, I smoked the last of your precious gifts about a month ago, and I still reflect often on your generosity to a complete stranger. You sir have a direct VIP access to the Man upstairs for your generosity...I thank you again... Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  3. Hedgehog, I wondered whether smoking in that park was allowed...I'm just outside of NYC but rarely head into that beautiful park...but it crossed my mind that no one else was smoking...but technically, I wasn't either...hence my post...but thx for the location tips!! Noted. No doubt a smug hipster would have educated me had I got my PSP2 lit proper. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  4. I'm on a few different forums for this or that, electronics, things that go bang, things that fly, etc...but I have to say, I've never encountered such a helpful, friendly, community on any other forum...so many thoughtful replies, and with solid info to boot!! Again, thank you all!! Rich Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  5. and the fantastic tips just keep rollin in, thank you all again!
  6. With renewed faith in the quality of life and of my cigars, I will forge ahead with another stick this weekend, and report my findings, taking heed of all the above, thank you all...yet again. Keep Calm and Smoke On.
  7. Gratitude is the best attitude!! Thank you sir for reminding me of just that! Well said. You win the internet today!
  8. Thank you for the reassurance. Is there a way for me to "feel" for a cigar in my bunch that might have such a tight draw...and is there anything to be said for the "poker" type tools some folks speak of to loosen the tobacco from the head by inserting a tiny rod through? thx for replying Cep!!
  9. So you all have been so great with me and my noob posts over the past couple months. Anyway. I'll repost two pics of what I bought myself back in December from a different vendor, with no further mention of said vendor...I received my first ever box of cigars...until this point I was buying single sticks on vacation and bringing them home with me. This has been going on for about 5 years or so...and maybe I am the luckiest guy for not having experienced until yesterday what I experienced, or maybe I am the unluckiest guy - for my first cigar, out of the first box of cigars I ever ever boug
  10. Great, thanks...so after all this time I learn why we care about temperature, it's only because of possible beetle issues, that's it?? Thx for the feedback and suggestions everyone! Great folks here on FOH. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  11. Freezing is something that has been generally agreed upon as harmless but to the beetles/larvae? I've read about it, but am new enough to worry that I'm damaging sticks...could you explore this for me? Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  12. I'm just waiting for the first nice day outside to smoke...its still very much early spring here... Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  13. Haven't sealed. Have owned a for about 3 years now, and I find at first it was leaky, now it has settled down...its stable. The temperature is actually harder for me to deal w than humidity...i live in a steam heat apartment, in New York...so winter is tough here, I can keep my windows open and freeze just to get the temp down to 60's. Summer, well I have air conditioning so that is sometimes a better time of year Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  14. Hi, happy Saturday here in the US. I was keeping this at 72ish humidity...i have 25 sticks in this 50 stick desktop. But it's dropped off since one or two bovedas slowly expired...some folks here I believe said 72 was too high anyway...what say all you fine folks to this image...66% and 70 degrees...ive got 25 PSP2 in there. Thanks for the opinions all!! Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  15. I'm sorry to hear this, I was here in '15, that's a shame, really. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  16. It was an American figure of speech, apologies if this was not understood. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  17. Not cheap...I think I paid close to 20 euro for a single Partagas Serie P no 2 tubo. But...they have a great selection, and the history there is something Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  18. There's only one place to go, A La Civette, perhaps the oldest cigar shop in the world. Near the Louvre, it's the best of the best. White glove service, literally. Fine selection. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
  19. And again...thank you all for the fantastic input, its a great community of like minded folks, I love it!
  20. First, thank you all for your contributions, this is exactly why I signed up for this forum! Interestingly, out of frustration last night, I thought of re-arranging the desktop humidor...when I first packed my new box of sticks, I put the majority of them on the bottom of the humidor, single stack, then placed 4 of them on the shelf up top...I then had 1 72% laying on top of the bottom row of sticks, while 2 72% and one 84% sat up on the shelf wtih the xikar hygrometer and 4 more sticks. What I did was double stack on the far right 13 sticks, leaving open space on the bott
  21. I apologize for this noob issue, I felt it was fairly unique...but then PigFish suggested I post here (after I messaged with him alone) for further scrutiny among friends, so here goes, and I am sorry for the length... I bought my first mail order box of sticks from - somewhere overseas as some of you saw my post from Saturday- they arrived perfectly. In preparation, my 2+ year old desktop 50 cigar humidor with glass top...was empty and with 4 72% Boveda packs - struggling to maintain 62% humidity according to the little Xikar circular hygrometer, that in a test earlier that week perform
  22. Here is what I got in the mail today...first mail order sticks, from overseas, opinions welcome. Usually I get habanos in the BVI - tortola, when I visit once a year from the states - NY'er here. Looking forward to reading and learning here. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
