  1. For me the blue and white jars from the Spanish “Colección Vintage” range are top of the pops. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. This has been a dependable beer-able cigar for me for 20 years - I used to love smoking them in a high ceilinged bar, but nowadays is always outside - ideally in a breeze-free corner in the sun. I also loved the Exh #3’s, but the 4 is god’s own size. I have 2 x 2013/2014 boxes from our esteemed host, and in a panic just realised I don’t have anything younger. I would imagine that the uplift in Churchill quality has likely fed through to the Exh 4’s, but that is just a guess. Back to this cigar: Great Turkish Delight on the pre-draw sniff, followed by classic Romeo flavours in the first third. Spices and cream. The second third got slightly bitter [emoji33] - I imagined the twiggy stemmy taste I get from light French Gamay wines, which thankfully disappeared in the final third to be replaced by more Turkish Delight dusted with powdered sugar. Burn was impeccable and ash held on & on. Perfect construction. I was unfortunately bogged down in work and not able to focus on the cigar much, but with its familiar flavour and impeccable construction it allowed me to do just that. London Pride was a workable (if not perfect) pairing. 3/5 (in my 1/3/5 scoring system) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. RyJ Churchills in the old silver tubes do it for me - I like that extra cedar and woof when I take one out to smoke. And I think we all agree the old silver tubes were 5*. I’m now at the stage that I buy PSP churchies from El Presi and decant the dress box into old silver RyJ Churchi tubes that I saved, turn on the radio and sit back and wait 7 years and not worry too much about it all. 10. I think it’s very difficult. I spent most of my 20’s in Beijing at the beginning of this century and over time bought about 10 fake DuPont lighters for around USD 25 each. I partied hard and banged them up; they got scratched by my keys in my pocket, dropped a lot and used almost every night. They were great work horses. At the time the idea of spending a lot of money on one super expensive lighter was just... my brain just couldn’t compute the concept. Now that I’m a little older I have sympathy for IP and the difficulty and importance of retaining a skilled work force to make a high value product in an unfair global market place etc etc. I bought a second hand dual flame Davidoff (made by ST DuPont) off eBay, and my wife gifted me a gold DuPont bought from their store here in Hong Kong. I’m afraid to use it so it sits at home and lights candles on birthday cakes a couple of times a year. Back to 2005 - my buddy Chris was gifted a legit DuPont from his wife and promptly lost it. Instead of telling her, he bought a replacement from the legit DuPont store. It was eye-wateringly expensive. As a joke I went to the fake market and bought him a replica. I gave it to him when we next went out drinking and by the end of the evening we couldn’t work out which one was which. We really couldn’t. The next day he checked the serial number on the receipt and the real one was the one we had decided was the fake one. The fake one felt a bit heavier and dependable. So, leaving aside ethics, and the joy that most people get from owning and using something legit and special (which is a separate discussion) my view is that it’s very difficult to tell the fakes that I’ve owned/own from the real ones I own. To be honest, the lighter I use most now is my FOH lighter - now that I only smoke outside I find the DuPonts a pain in the ass to use. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  13. Fireproof Punch EL’s from 2008 - sadly I haven’t been happy with a single cigar from this box. Enough to put me off EL’s for life! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
