  1. Pepper. Especially a white pepper but a spicy black pepper is not sediment something I enjoy I enjoy smoking a cigar. So, basically most non-Cuban cigars that are produced these days. There is also a chemical taste that I seem to get when I smoke some non-Cuban maduros (a rare event). There's even a strange color to the smoke (I think). It's suspicious. ?
  2. Just had my annual check up. Was asked by the nurse during a pre interview phone call about drinking and smoking. When I told her I smoke cigars ("About 5 a week"), she seemed appalled and the nurse said the doctor might want to "discuss that with me." Turns out she did. My doctor asked my why I smoked cigars. I told her I found them to be relaxing. They allow me to decompress and my girlfriend smokes them as well and it's something with both enjoy doing together. Pre-pandemic, when I battling SF Bay Area traffic, I would enjoy a cigar stuck in bumper to bumper. Everyone around me was irate, agitated and just pissed off. But I was relaxed and mellow. My doctor said, "It sounds to me like any negative health effects from you smoking cigars in moderation are outweighed from the positive effects they have on your mental health."
  3. Nice job. I've always felt "smoke now or wait" internal debate is made much easier with 50 cabs.
  4. Without a doubt the best bang for your buck, cheap and cheerful cigars made. "Don't like it? It's only 4 cents. Get another. Don't like that one? Try another..."
  5. I usually give mine away to local teachers who use them for school art projects or list them on NextDoor/Craigslist for free. First come, first served. Lots of people want them for purses, guitar amps, organizing, etc. I do ink out the box codes though.
  6. Humo (smoke) Vega (tobacco plantation) Vitola Ramona Llones
  7. Nordstrom always sells nice mens leather gloves lined with cashmere on sale this time of year. I was gifted a pair of nice Coach gloves that work on cell phone screens. They're quite warm and work well.
  8. I've had good luck using 97-99.5% isopropyl alcohol when removing the residual glue off the wooden boxes.
  9. Try heating the sticker and It's glue up with a hair dryer and slowly peeling them off.
  10. After the riots and in typical Castro fashion, he held a press conference and said Cuba could no longer afford to be the guardian of North American shores and simply allowed Cubans to take to the seas. He created a problem for the US to handle, for the US to solve and eventually drove them to negotiate a new immigration accord and implement the Wet Foot, Dry Foot Policy in early 1995. By then, 35,000 Cubans had made it to Florida. God knows how many drowned. In the process, the Cuban government once again used immigration to the US as a safety valve on significant political organization coming from within the country. But that's just one guy's opinion. ?
  11. If you want to see what protests and unrest in Havana really look like, just Google "Maleconazo".
  12. Not really sad for me either. I have other reasons for going to Cuba. ??
  13. I'm considering it. It will take time. I think it's also worth pointing out that in addition to the price increases, the Gaceta is establishing a 6% across the board tax on all of these increases if you buy in a tobacco store. If you buy outside of one these stores, such as a restaurant, tourist facility, etc. then tax is 15%. So let's play a game. A box of Cohiba Robustos, under the new pricing is now 496 CUC...or 525.76 CUC with with new 6% tax added. For those not based in US, I don't know what you would pay in CC fees but I'm sure you'd be kicking in at least 3% to the Cubans in "conversion fees". You could obviously avoid those fees by going to the street but when you start to talk about that amount of money, you better damn well know and trust the person you're working with. They're getting close to reaching parity with Spain prices. Current price of Cohiba Robustos in Spain today is 546.25€ Unless I find a diamond in the rough (which might start happening with these prices), custom rolled cigars or the Ediciónes Regionales Cuba, I don't see why I'm not going to start bringing my own cigars to Cuba...and order what I want from the comfort of my home when I return. Especially when I know I'm going to get quality cigars that way.
  14. Thanks. I just fixed the broken link to the PDF as well as the one on the Google Sheet.
  15. I deleted my Facebook account a month before the election. I had some upset friends and relatives but, whatever. It's one of the best things I've done for my privacy and mental health. As far as news from more traditional sources I turned off the TV, which had cable news on in the evening for a few hours. Now I just put it on when I feel like I want to get a particular individual's editorial take on an issue...and then turn it off. As long as one recognizes that cable news is peppered with editorial commentary, particularly into the evening hours, I don't see any issue with watching some of it. Opinion isn't inherently bad. But if that's all one is watching... they're not consuming a healthy or balanced diet.
  16. Why would one have to roll their windows up to leave a gap of no more than 5cm? Is this a fine to encourage the vehicle owner to prevent the theft of their vehicle?
  17. I'm assuming they'll give a big middle finger by cutting every dalia in production so they can repurpose that tobacco for ELs that cost 4 times as much and those that buy them can calm their remorse by telling themselves (and everyone else), "Well they're still really young. Can't wait to try them in a few more years."
  18. Yes. CUC. I added a link on the spreadsheet to the original source document.
  19. Just take some PPG. ? Healthcare is just like everything else in Cuba. If you're a tourist, you get an all access pass to the best food, drinks, housing, transportation, etc. the island has to offer.
  20. Love walking my dog while smoking a cigar. The dog is an Australian Shepherd so we're doing at least 2 walks of 2+ miles a day and one or two shorter walks. Even at 12 years old, Havana (yep. That's her name) still needs to get the energy out of her system. I don't generally smoke small vitolas so I usually wind up smoking a portion of it while we're walking and then finishing the majority of it indoors when we get home.
  21. You're assuming two government agencies comunicate with each other.
