  1. I've played hockey, too, so I get what you're saying. But ultimately it comes down to the fact that these guys get paid a ridiculous amount of money to play a game. Nobody can realistically expect a team to be perfect or win every game, but there's a lot going on with Detroit that is absolutely controllable. It's not about losing the game, it's about the manner in which the game was lost. Bounces happen, luck happens, pooh happens. A team can do everything right, but not get the fortuitous bounce that makes the difference in the game. But that's not what happened last night in Detroit. No
  2. What has Babcock done with the team since 2009? He's clearly a capable coach (Olympic gold, etc.), but I think most NHL coaches have shelf lives and his has expired (he's been with Detroit sice 2005 - that's a looong time.). It's obvious the team is no longer inspired by him. A new perspective might help get the team back on track. I think Jeff Blashill would be the most likely candidate (Griffin's head coach for the last 3 seasons). He knows the Detroit system and he's certainly been mentored by Babcock, but he would provide a different perspective. I would prefer that Detroit make a cha
  3. Well, Detroit fully on choked tonight. Had a stranglehold on the series with 5 mins to go in regulation... and end up losing in OT. Terrible. Babcock needs to go. He's lost the team. The Wings need a coach who can instill a killer instinct... no more of this taking your skate off the throat of a defeated team crap. Just plain terrible. Series is now knotted at 2s, but Tampa has all the momentum going back to their barn. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

  5. I love how well-represented North Dakota is in this thread. Much love and respect to my ND brethren. Smoke Cuban cigars, drink good Scotch, grill up some properly aged steaks, have fun shooting belt-fed machine guns, and love the 4 months of non-winter while you can. It's the North Dakota way! Woot! Cheers, Greg Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  6. It's maple. Rather nicely tiger striped maple. Bob sure knows how to build them. No Wings logo on the humidor proper, but there is a Pavel Datsyuk autographed puck on top. It's in the photo on the right. Cheers, Greg Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  7. Aristocrat M-THC. Quite possibly the best investment I've ever made. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
  8. South western North Dakota, maybe north western South Dakota? Heart of pheasant country, still part of the waterfowl flyway, NFA friendly (I refuse to live any where I can't use transferable MGs, etc.), and fairly low cost of living. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
  9. We need some harder hitting forwards, too. Looking forward to Mantha getting the the team. I sorta expected they'd give him a chance at least in the last regular season game, but no such luck. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  10. Pretty embarrassing, actually. Maybe the Wings can trade coach Babcock for a netminder who can consistently keep the puck out of the friggin' net. I've never been a fan of Howard because he's so inconsistent. Thought Mrazek might have been The Next Big Thing, but he seems to be inconsistent just like Howard. These guys... man. Stand on their head one game, then become a total sieve the very next. The team plays well in front of the goalie who's on fire, but they tighten up and start playing terribly when they don't have confidence in the netminder. It's beyond time for Holland to do something
  11. This is completely stupid. I am no fan of Hamilton's (can't stand the guy, actually), but this complaint is one of the dumbest things I've read in a long while. Was anyone yapping about this when Vettel was regularly hosing down the ladies during his many, many, many podiums during his championship run? Like any of this is new. Some people just create excuses to be offended. Cheers, Greg Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  12. There's always one pretty surprising upset in the first round. I think this year that upset could very well be Detroit beating Tampa. If Mrazek is on his game (sometimes it seems like a flip of the coin), then it will be a difficult task for Tampa. Go, Wings! Cheers, ~ Greg ~
  13. Athena was very clearly loved by you. We don't have kids, so our pooches are absolutely our family. Saying good-bye is terrible, but the time we're able to spend with them more than makes up for their loss. Greg
  14. Bernie's an old crank who needs to go. Wipeout has a bigger social media footprint than F1. And I like Wipeout... don't get me wrong. Love me some Jill Wagner! But this is F-f***ing-1. It's like Bernie thinks we're still in 1950 or something. This old curmudgeon needs to be sent out to pasture already. Cheers, Greg Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

  16. Christoph Waltz is such a supremely excellent selection for the role of a Bond villain. Every role this guy touches is gold! I just wish Daniel Craig wasn't always making that duck lips face. He's a great Bond (my favorite since Connery), but the duck lips need to go. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
  17. I was actually giggling when Seb crossed the finish line in front of both Mercs. It would have been great to see *anyone* beat the Silver Arrows, but it was particularly sweet to see Sebastian do it. He drove that Ferrari like a boss and you could see/hear Hamilton and Mercedes getting rattled - not accustomed to chasing another team, I guess. I hope to see the Scuderia and Vettel on the top step of the podium with regularity the season. Some serious competition for Mercedes will actually make this season entertaining... unlike last season. Good race. Great win! Cheers, Greg Sent from my
  18. Not the least bit surprised. I don't think either of them would want to be involved with whatever the next iteration of TG will be. It won't be TG anymore... time to move on to other things. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
  19. My daily driver is still my 2011 Audi S4... just rolled past 131,000 miles last week.

  21. Right. So when it matters, they can no longer say it's the same engine. They offer the most stripped down version they can to their customers, even though they know it's nowhere near the works team's engine in terms of performance. Nothing wrong with that... but sounds like Merc is implying nothing's different between them. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  22. Agreed. If anyone actually believes that the Silver Arrows are running with the exact same engines as the the customer teams, well... then I've got a bridge for sale in Brooklyn. Just. Plain. Stupid. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  23. Apples and oranges, man. I don't seem to recall Vettel and Webber finishing 1-2 *every single* race. There was always a chance that another team would get 1 or 2 spots on the podium. And there was more of a chance that another constructor might do well. That's not what we have now at all. Mercedes is so far ahead of the field that they might as well give Hamilton another title and declare Mercedes the constructors champ now just to save everyone else the expense and hassle of participating in the season. Hell, the FIA is so concerned about being green... imagine how much smaller their carbon
  24. Remy, our 2 1/2 year old Weimaraner. The most awesome dog I've ever known. Dapper Remy with his best Christmas bowtie: Remy and me out in the field last year: Sleepy 8 week old Remy:
  25. This season is off to a shitty start. Mercedes had another cake walk and only 11 cars finished the race. Completely lame. And I suspect this race will be the season in a nutshell. I think I'll be looking for other things to watch on Sundays this year. Oooo! Maybe NASCAR!!! Bah. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
