  1. The green argument is a weak argument. Nothing about F1 is green. What's the carbon footprint of moving teams around the globe in a season? It's a silly PC-fueled effort that serves to only bastardize the sport. It would be like the NFL trying to reduce head injuries by moving to touch football. It's completely stupid. This green argument has to stop. I'm pretty sure that volcano in Iceland (I won't even try to spell it. LOL) did more to harm the environment than all of auto racing around the globe has over the last 100 years. Guess what? The planet is still okay. Ditch the false restrictions
  2. I love the P34! That's what F1 is *supposed* to be about... pushing the limits, testing new ideas, thinking outside the box. No... that simply won't do. Today's F1 is all about phony greenyness, stunted competition, and limited innovation. But they tell us the racing is still the best in the world, so I guess that makes everything okay. Bah. 3. A Christmas Story is #1 by a mile. White Christmas Elf Christmas Vacation A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott version) Those are all must-sees during the holidays. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
  4. I would be all for ditching these obnoxious V6 motors. They're offensive to all five senses. I gave it a season, but I still get annoyed every time you see the car and don't hear the F1 sound. I mean, c'mon. It's like a bunch of irritated bumble bees running around the track. I want the motors to spool up to 17K rpm. I want to hear the scream from the engine! I suppose ditching the 100kg/hr fuel limit might allow the these hybrid engines to run faster than 10K rpm (or whatever they're effectively limited to now with that fuel consumption limit), but even at 17K rpm I suspect these current
  5. Agreed that Episode III was awesome. Growing up I had read all about the epic lightsaber duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan that ended in Anakin being left in a mess - I had always tried to visualize it, so I had a pretty biased idea of what it should look like. I was totally impressed. It absolutely lived up to my expectations. I'm not sold on a JJ Abrams, though. I totally dig the new Star Trek films, but they're also somewhat alternative-story like. (I.e. Vulcan getting destroyed?) I'm also not a Star Trek fanboi, so it's easy enough for me to set these newer movies apart from the previous
  6. Do you have Fudds up there like we do down here? Remy and I won't go to the field on the opening week of deer season... too many people out there who only fire their rifles a few times a year and are way too eager to bag a doe or buck on their first trip out. Too many stories of Fudds mistaking bird dogs for deer. Because, you know, deer also wear blaze orange bird dog vests. Nope, once deer season opens up around here we tend to take a break for a while. Two weeks in and most people have filled their tag or given up. Then it's back out for pheasants and grouse where we can find them. C
  7. Yeah, because Ferrari or Mercedes wouldn't have bitched about the exact same thing had the Renault engine been the power unit to beat this season. Please. All of the major teams are babies. That's how F1 works. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  8. Easy-peasy. LOUDNESS! Rock and Roll Crazy Nights! Rock and roll crazy night You are the heroes tonight Rock and roll crazy night You are the hero MZA, MZA, MZA And then some awesome German metal... Accept: Balls to the Wall Balls to the wall, man Balls to the wall You'll get your balls to the wall, man Balls to the wall, balls to the wall Come on man, let's stand up all over the world Let's plug a bomb in everyone's arse If they don't keep us alive, we're gonna fight for the right
  9. Bernie is a complete tool. He doesn't want "begging bowls" but he has no problem with a redistribution of the larger teams' revenue. At least those "begging bowls" means those smaller outfits are trying to scrounge up the funds on their own without needing to leach from the more monied teams. 10. Guilty. I've had these plates on 2 cars now... Admittedly, the Stormtrooper reference was better on the white GTI... but it's mine now and will go on any car I have. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
  11. I think this is probably the most important thing anyone's said in this thread yet (myself included). I'm not a big fan of the "just doing our job" argument, but it's absolutely true that a lot of my gripes in this thread would be non-issues if it weren't for the politicians that were working their voodoo on everything. This even goes back to the OPs original issue - the fines aren't set by the cops. So, yes, I agree with this entirely. Very good point. I, too, am a Star Wars fan. Geek might be a better descriptor. But the Spock quote... c'mon. If what he said is actually true, then w
  12. You're helping me to make my point. Let's say for a moment that North Dakota LEOs could round up criminals with a horse and wagon... they're not. That's my point exactly. Instead of using what's needed, they acquire USGI surplus AFVs (which would be more at home on the streets of Falluja) to supposedly keep the peace in places like Fargo, North Dakota. What purpose can that possibly serve, other than to show the public that the local cops are capable of bringing military-style firepower to bear upon whoever deserves it? Your comments are sort of what I pointed out in an earlier post. Your
  13. I think you misunderstood my point re: fines being revenue streams for gov't. It's not that fines are issued to offset the cost of whatever resources were used to issue the fine in the first place. Fines are essentially taxes - the gov't uses these fines to add funds to their coffers. There's certainly a punitive element to it, too, but you don't need a monetary fine to deliver a punishment. It's all about the money. Gov'ts like to spend lots of money, so they need to generate lots of revenue. The comment about [moderated] cops was in reference to those cops who walk around like they're s

  15. Ah, yes... the old "I was just following orders" defense. Classic. Not a big fan of gov't taxes in any form since it's too easily (and often) abused to plump up the coffers. And as others have stated, this sort of fine was clearly only intended to generate revenue. Rather than cutting costs, gov'ts tend to increase their revenue however they can (taxes, fines, etc.) in order to continue along with their ridiculous levels of spending. As for the cop bashing... well... I liked cops just fine when I was a kid. You know, Officer Friendly and all that. But I've seen such a militarization of
  16. Sounds like a most excellent trip! Have fun and be safe! A friend and I will be out hunting geese and ducks on Saturday. Hoping to get dinner for Saturday and Sunday. Cheers, Greg Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  17. I do love to trash the Cowboys... no lie there. But, really, it's more about Romo. That guy just drives me crazy. My favorite Romo photo: And the only reason I am actually glad the Cowboys exist as an organization: If they ever get rid of those cheerleaders I'll have absolutely no reason to care about the Cowboys at all. Well... other than clowning on Romo. That will never get old. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
  18. That Bumgarner kid is pretty damned good. I think it's fair to say the better team won... but, damn. The Giants are like the Yankees from years ago. I am just entirely tired of seeing them win it all - time for some other teams to get in there. And I still can't help but think of Bonds' big fat juiced up head whenever I think of the Giants.
  19. Anyone who's hell bent on feeling offended can and will find any reason to be offended. Political correctness is one of the most annoying aspects of our times. Some people just need to relax. And perhaps grow thicker skin. And get over themselves. Cheers, Greg Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  20. It's a funny clown-on-the-hicks story, but it's not true. Still good for a chuckle, though. Ken lives!!!!!! Awesome! I missed you, boo! Cheers, ~ Greg ~
  21. Agreed about understanding the context. But I really doubt you'll find anything in the relevant historical documents that suggests the federal gov't was expected to provide weapons to every Tom, ****, and Harry in order to comply with the the 2nd Amendment. None of the delegated powers in Article 1 Section 8 come close to stating that, nor does the 2nd Amendment support that. I don't recall reading about Patrick Henry railing about that issue during the Virginia ratification convention - and he complained about a lot of the power that was being handed over to the feds. (He was against Virgin
  22. Oh, please. LOL There is so much fail in what you've written above. I'll completely avoid the bulk of it by only countering with this: where in the 2nd Amendment is it written that the federal gov't (and surely you must be talking about the feds since you're talking about the original intent of the 2nd Amendment - which was part of the Constitution, which set the framework for the then-new federal gov't) must supply anything at all? It says only that the right to keep/bear arms must not be infringed upon by the feds. It says nothing about who must supply anything at all. We're buds and
  23. I'm in ND, smoking a Monty #2, and am indoors at the moment. Of course, I'm also smoking in my house. So.. yeah... at least we have that going for us. Cheers! Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  24. Rob, as if any further reason was needed to love this place... I swear, man. You've been spoiling all of us for years and this new direction really sounds like you're cranking it up to 11. That's most excellent! I am eagerly awaiting the new bits. Ray. LOL I'm all in for that, brother! And maybe a daily hunting thread whilst we're at it?
