  1. Greetings. It's that time of year again. CA has completed their yearly list. Time for ours. I've selected a sampling of the most recent releases, minus the special humidors. Those are too esoteric and hard to get. The poll focuses on the regular, EL, Reserva, GR and various LCDH offerings. Criteria is as follows: Please fill out the poll before it closes on Jan 2, 2020. You can select multiple choices in the poll as well.
  2. Fellow FOH Members. Here are you Top Cigars of 2018 (and 2017 thanks to Habanos' release woes) The cigars in this list reflect what was considered a "New" release by HSA in 2018. Of course, planned release date =/= actual release when it comes to HSA so some 2017 sticks were included. Before we begin; some stats. 137 Members voted. (IMO, that seems low, but IIRC it's an improvement over previous polls) There are 4 ties, so we won't officially get a "top 10". One cigar received zero votes. The HdM Rio de Seco. Not a big surprise as this was a pretty recent release. 58 Members voted for "NONE OF THE ABOVE". This can be read two ways. Many members did not get a chance to sample any of the listed cigars for one reason or another. This thread will allow comments, so those of you that voted this way; please feel free to expand as to what prevented you from trying anything. Of if you did and did not care for any of the candidates. Shenanigans. I really hope this isn't the case. Could it be a middle finger to Habanos? To this poll? Who knows? The List. #1 Trinidad La Trova LCDH Exclusivo #2 Quai D'Orsay No. 50 #3 Cohiba Talisman EL 2017 #4 (Two way tie) Montecristo 1935 Series Dumas Punch Regios Del Punch EL 2017 #5 H Upmann Connosseur B 2017 Habanos Specialist Series #6 (Three way tie) H Upmann Sir Winston Gran Reserva Cosecha 2013 Partagas Series E1 EL 2017 Quai D'Orsay No. 54 #7 (three way tie) Bolivar Soberano EL 2018 Montecristo 1935 Series Leyenda Romeo y Julieta Tacos EL 2018 #8 (Two way tie) Cohiba Robusto Reserva Cosecha 2013 Montecristo 1935 Series Maltes Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote. I've put the final voting tally below for reference so you can see how the votes ended up. I personally only tried 4 of the above with only one on multiple occasions. I think the Trinidad La Trova is a worthy of #1 status and may became a classic. Please feel free to discuss this "latest" batch of Habanos. What you liked, hated or otherwise felt "meh" towards. Final Poll results.
  3. Hi Guys, Opening Day is just around the corner! I've been running a fantasy baseball league with fellow smokers since 2006 or so. It started at the Cigar Aficionado forum and have shifted to the FOH forum for the last 3 years or so. For 2018, we already have nine of 12 members, looking for three more. The buy-in is $50 with payouts to 1-3 (56.67%/26.67%/8.33%) and best regular season record (8.33%). This is a head-to-head custom 5x5 league over at Yahoo. If you are interested, please take a look at the detailed settings and let me know. Draft is this Sunday March 25, 8:30pm CST. Thanks for reading! 4. I spoke with Prez this morning and he agrees that it would be a great idea to have a gathering for any FoH members who will be in Havana for the Habanos Festival next month. The Habanos Festival is from Monday Feb 27 - Friday March 3. The event will be in the restaurant VIPHavana in Vedado from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday March 1st. A fairly new restaurant, it's a really nice space and great tapas. Not stuffy at all, it'll be relaxing, fun, a few drinks and cigars, absolutely in the spirit of FoH. A time to share stories of our week so far.. http://en.viphavana454.com/index.php/about-us Finishing at 7 pm as some members will be going on to the mid-week Festival event, in which case at least you'll have had some food before the "dinner". For those not going to the mid-week event, we'll be in the middle of Vedado so there'll be plenty to do afterwards. I am hoping to get final numbers before February 14th so I can give the restaurant some idea of how many we'll be. For anyone going to the festival, please PM me if you can come. Hope to see you there, it'll be a laugh! VIPHavana
  5. Review: FOH Ashtray Mod Edition Vitals: L = 11 Inches W = 7.2 inches H = ~2.1 inches Weight: 24.7Kg Materials: Solid 24k Gold inlay Polished, Albino Tortoise shell Paints: Reclaimed paint from Australian Aboriginal rock paintings located in Namadgi National Park. 28,000 years old source It's an ashtray, so not much to review really. But a lovely piece of work. If the weather behaves, I'll break it in soon. Some pics below. Non-descrit black box. (ooooh) Precious Content In all its' glory Thanks for using the monkey logo and not soiling it with Ken's mug. Oh and I highly recommend the rest of you get the regular one. It's nice too I guess. Many thanks to Rob for commissioning such an eco/historical/unfriendly piece. In all seriousness, great piece of work. My contribution to April Fool's, since everyone on the planet sees it coming from a mile away.
  6. Well, another Live review, has ended tonight, and I just wanted to write some words about it. Lots of us have been in the forums for a long time (yes I'm talking about people like you piggy or all the moderators and opinionated guys . Since Rob has started with the live reviews meetings, I think the forum has growth to another level for the people that have participated on it. We have made friends and we have had great times. Tonight, even we have not had the opportunity to be with anyone of our has hosts, have been one of my greatest nights in the event (or maybe its the alcohol talking hahaha) In my humble opinion, I think this has been one of the greatest forms ever to have had the chance to exchange with people all over the world experiences and opinions about cigars and life. So even though I know its not easy for every one to join us, I would like to extend the invitation to anyone in here to join us next time. this is really a great community and a great place to know each other, so yeah... next time hop in, have a cigar and a drink. I am sure you will have a great time and a place to meet new friends. All the best to you mates Francisco P.S. Cardhu is a great single malt hahaha
  7. A bunch of us FOH members are getting together at Club Macanudo in NYC because I am there for a long weekend to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday. We are on a trip with 12 of her closest girlfriends and I am going to need a break! So please come on over and bring your favorite cigars. I will be there at 6:30. Not sure if dinner is there or what the night will bring, but we will have a fantastic time. Lisa, CB
  8. And so it ends. FOH's second "unofficial" Top cigars of the year poll. Members had about four weeks in which to cast their votes. In scope were the 2013 new releases from Habanos. "New" in terms of product line, not box codes to existing cigar lines. Poll Stats: 4 week poll duration 20 Cigars listed. 99 Members voted. 6 cigars with "0" votes. 2013 FOH Top Cigars Results Last year's winner was Cohiba's 1966 EL. Another cigar that was released late the previous year and made it into the top spot. Thanks to everyone who voted. Enjoy this for what it is. I'd like to see a list that comprised of all Habanos current releases. Maybe next year? In the meantime, Feel free to discuss the 2013 results.
  9. "Unofficial" FOH Cigar Of The Year Poll. Here we go again. Last year I opened up an "Unofficial FOH Cigar Of The Year" Poll. Why not again? Below is what has been officially released by Habanos during 2013. I've decided to mix all the releases as the regular production releases really haven't hit wide distribution. This list is "unofficial". Have some fun with it. Vote for as many selections as you like. Poll Duration: Friday Nov 29 - 12PM EST - Friday Dec 20 11:59PM EST I've used CCW to compile the list. Many thanks to Trevor for this tremendous resource. Note: There are 21 cigars listed. Of them, two have not actually been seen by anyone. The Partagas Series E No 1 Rafael Gonzales Petit Piramides
  10. The results are in! The poll thread closed today. Below are the favorite cigars of 2012 as voted by FOH members. Thanks for participating. Take a look and keep the discussions civil please! Some stats: 16 cigars qualified for voting. See original post for criteria. 100 Members voted. Poll was open for 7 days. We have a tie for No 1 spot! FOH's Top Cigars of 2012 (unofficial)
