OK, Just got into a heated discussion with my 12 year old. He hates it that his Know it all friend pronounces the city Moscow as mahs-co when my son calls it mahs-cow as in cow, I tried to tell him that depending on where your from you pronounce it differently but he wont stand for it.

maybe someone from russia can settle this, Is it mahs-co or is it mahs-cow?

I'm thinking of Sergei Eisenstein's "Ivan The Terrible" with composer Sergei Prokoviev's tunes of the Oprichniki (secret police) singing, "Muscavy! Muskavy!" and it's being pronounced: Moos-ka-vee
