My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

not seen the double oaked but enjoy the 'standard'.

i think i have mentioned elsewhere, for some odd reason, i was sent a bottle from Batch 1 of the 'standard' years ago. it was spectacular (reminds me a bit of a new cigar where the first releases are fabulous and the following ones may not quite reach that level). i've enjoyed plenty of different Batches since then but none have matched that first one.

A futures order from a couple of years ago came in today. Not an expensive wine but I've had some good luck with this from past vintages.

Decided to try laphroig. The jury is still out.

Edit: no where close to being in the same league as ardbeg ten. 547baf1e3e23086ab8c1ad719c3eed07.jpg6af1d08f655756b564ebd5eee5d461ca.jpg

A rather fruitful Sunday afternoon while out shopping with the missus, she gets her clothes and I get my wine:
- a bottle of the 2012 Red Edge 71 Block Heathcote Shiraz
- another bottle of the 2015 Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock Heathcote Shiraz
- a couple of bottles of the 2010 Chateau Bouscasse Madiran by Alain Brumont
