A few recent acquisitions 1980s bottlings of Glenfiddich 15 and 18. 1980s bottling of Macallan 12 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

Blanton's gold US release

Speak for yourself. I loved the nuanced delivery of the new Laphroaig 15. Why go for heavy peat when the 10yr, QC and Cask Strength do it already?

It's the 18yr they have to do something about. weak delivery, the ultimate "meh" Islay whisky.

The original 15 is not that peaty or smoky. It's the definition of complex, with tropical fruit coming out after the initial smoke and iodine. Pineapple, guava, passion fruit. I've not tasted a Laphroaig since that comes close. Not the 10CS, 18, triple cask, QC, 25, 30 or 40.

The regular release Port Charlotte is a more balanced and subjectively better dram.
