Thought that I would start this off for the new year. Good to see what people's favorite or current libation is. Tonight, The Balvenie Portwood 21...

I'm feeling better today,  Not as dark, tense, and angry as I have been the past several days. Today was better. Chores around the house, building a new humidor, repaired a door frame, and just being

Tried the newly released Glenmorangie Private Edition Bacalta.

Love the perfumed nose: sweet, winey, vanilla.

Unfortunately the palate is a little bit of a let down and nothing very much special compared to their standard 'the Original' at half the price. The only difference is that this has a hint of sweet wine note on the finish with a little more spice to the profile.

Not bad, just feel that it's priced a little much for what it offers.

Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Robusto with some red wine - a rather inexpensive bottle that was gifted to me: 2014 Rouge Homme Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon.

Not a bad quaffing wine. Quite light in body, medium at best. Not complex at all.

The cigar on the other hand is superb.

Continuing the Arturo Fuente trend with a well aged Arturo Fuente Anejo No. 50.

Having some 2001 Highbank Coonawarra Reserve Cabernets with this.

Assuredly, Arturo Fuente does deserve its reputation of being an internationally acclaimed premier cigar producer.

For Ardbeg Committee members, it was actually a couple of days early for the Committee release...

If you like good Dolcetto, this is one - still quite a bit of grip, but certainly drinkable.....

Oddero is a good producer and Dolcetto's are well priced all considered.  Good for up to a decade cellaring.

I like their wines, but I admit to having mixed feelings style-wise - I sometimes think them slightly over-oaked.

As for dolcetto, I'm a long time fan, and sometimes think them underrated - but that I don't mind  :)

If Barolo, you can sit it out and wait I suppose?  I like Giacosa better than Oddero and I don't think their Dolcetto is that far apart in price?
