Ray, it would be impossible for me to take offense smile.png

At the risk of opening a can of crap, and perhaps seeming to be critical of Rob and what he's done, and what he's trying to do, I agree with much of what you've said above. To try and be brief - from my perspective, something like United Network of Cigar Lovers, Network of United Cigar Lovers, etc - losing the underground aspect, losing the current acronym, bringing concerns to the fore and to light - might be taken more seriously, were it to come to that.

For what it's worth, I've briefly discusssed my thoughts with RA.

Good post, mate. I totally and utterly agree.

I think the acronym is more a statement of how we are all being treated. I'm pretty sure Rob and others spent hundreds of hours trying the professional and politically correct route and came up ignored, belittled and patronised. The *****AS ideology I think is that it's been made perfectly clear to us that we are on our own now, there is no help coming from those in power so it's two fingers up at the people in charge and their whole lying system of how to 'make a change if you don't agree with us'; we're going on our own path.

I was expecting more of a "piratey theme", maybe black and white and along the lines of a heated brand/stamp but at the end of the day it's just a picture. The whole point of *****AS is the bond and friendships of the community. To get your knickers in a twist over a sticker/forum logo kind of defeats the whole point of the exercise imo

Maybe there could be a competition in each international forum to design their own sub-logo which is along the same lines of the main logo for those who are so offended by the current idea

let me know what you think. Cell leaders will be finalised next week (most countries are done) and our first events being planned.

Thanks to Colt for the concept. The closed fist portrays the fight to retain our cigar rights.

As for me, I am not in a huff! I have always loved the FoH logos including and especially the Churchill logo, the monkey and the Ken logo!

Opinions were asked and if it were me I would not be copying Communist party and racial hate group logos!!! Simple as that... as far as I am concerned. Not my club, not my design, not really a concern of mine beyond that of adding some knowledge that perhaps someone overlooked or did not consider.

Perhaps my friend wants the imagery of the very powers that wish to put him out of business! How the hell would I know? I never spoke to anyone prior to this thread. I figured he might want to know that this is the same imagery used by the Black Panthers and the Arian Brotherhood!!!

Hell, If I were making logos for my use I would not emulate such people.

Rob, my friend, if you knew this in advance and chose to use it anyway, I apologize for the critique of the work. If you did not know, perhaps you can appreciate that you have a friend that has the guts to tell you!

It reminds me of a story that I think you told me about a mate that could not speak Spanish. Someone loaded him with derogatory lines and told the bloke to go out in public and speak them. Hell, I just don't want you to be that bloke... The rest is up to you mate.

Cheers. -Ray

Love the overall design and the colour scheme. Think it would look good on a dark grey shirt too, and tan / light brown as well.

Very cool, and kudos to the artist(s).

...

...

My ONLY thought would be....what about adding a section of ash at the (left) end of the cigar? That way, with a bit of ash down there, to counter with the band on the cigar, it is a bit more recognizable as a burning cigar, IMO.

Just a thought.

OK guys there was a lot of people asking for a shirt or two perhaps a cap and a mug. Here is the link to our shirt store

http://www.zazzle.com/friendsofhabanos

Jump on there and keep up the fight. If there is something else that you would like to see the logo on just post it here and I will add it.

Well, I guess scratch my thought then. Didn't realize they were going to be so hot off the presses, compared to input time.

Oh well.

Available - follow Smithy's link, click on your region, then in the lower right, click on see all styles.

You can also customize. I put the main logo on back, and my avatar on front "pocket"

I like the ability to customize the shirt. If you could post a higher res image of the FOH monkey logo, I'd put it on the back of the shirt. copying the logo off the website makes the res too low.

I always thought a good image would be something like the ROTJ poster... with Smithy as Luke (but holding up a cigar instead of a lightsaber), Di in a gold bikini, Rob as Han, and Ken could be Chewy...

I like the original but Fuzz's vision also needs to be realized!

I am not going to criticize the art, which is well done, but the concept. Sorry Ross.

I won't drone on again about my anti-communist stance but the fist symbol means more than a fight against the oppressor. It is the symbol of oppression across the world. The symbol represents both communism and socialism, which are in fact the most oppressive forms of government in the world.

It was not a quest for the protection of individual liberty that gets you tobacco oppression. It is the left... It is those that believe in larger government, more taxes, the nanny state and with it government guidance to your life; to protect you from yourself and these evil corporations, you know! Government guidance is oppression. This symbol is used primarily by the actual oppressors and not the oppressed. The people who use this priarily are not oppressed, but radical individuals that will use death, destruction and violence against anyone to steal what another has worked for.

For you pleasure I have included information from Wiki regarding the symbol.

While reading I ask you to look at the voting record of those that bring you larger taxes, and more government intervention. Do these people desire to leave you alone or to tax you and to micromanage your individual interests? Can you see any of these same people marching under a flag of a fist in the 50's, 60's or 70's? What did that flag mean to them? Certainly not freedom... but larger government intervention into what they perceived was unfair distribution of wealth.

If you know any history, this is largely a communist and socialist icon. It is a racist symbol of both black and white nationalists. It is not something to emulate... IMHO.

You know you have really made me think, I don't know how I did not see this before. I too am very anti-Communist. Maybe another symbol would be better. Maybe a gentleman relaxing on a chair giving the old two fingered salute to the anti-cigar types!
