Gravity & Captain Phillips, both in IMAX

I saw Gravity over the weekend in a top of the line 3D theater. I've never seen a 3D movie because I always thought it was just an unnecessary add-on to make a trip to the movies more expensive. I made an exception here because it seemed like the scale of this movie would actually work in 3D. Well, I was right. Can't imagine seeing this any other way. It was a fantastic film. I can't imagine how much money they'll make on this film given that they're only really paying 2 actors. All the rest of the money goes into production. I still don't think 3D is worth it for 99% of films, but here it worked.

I saw Captain Phillips last night - great movie, had me on the edge of my seat and incredible that its based on a true story. At the same time I'm not one for the sudden black screen ending. Prisoners had it too and sometimes its intriguing but sometimes its just annoying.
