Hunters will always claim what they do is humane and justified, their opponents will claim that it is cruel and unnecessary. Neither side will convince the other to change their ways.

I have hunted in the past (feral animals in the top end and regional NSW). Do I condone hunting? Yes, to a certain extent (waiting for the bill to pass that will allow us to hunt politicians). Can I see the other side's point of view? Yes, I do, and I respect their views. Will it change my point of view? Probably not.

Does any of this matter? Absolutely not. So let's go back to our regularly scheduled cigar porn.

I went out this morning at 6am. Saw a bunch of deer running around (nothing I was going to shoot). Came back in and passed out. Just woke up to one of our camp members playing the accordion right by my head.

At least there is fresh bacon cooking and hot coffee.

Great pictures! Even if the subject matter has caused the "Great Debate" it's good to see men getting together and enjoying nature and great cigars! The emasculation of the modern male has threatened these long cultural traditions in many places. I blame the Nintendo game "Duck Hunt" for all of this! It proved to women we didn't actually need to shoot anything to have fun with guns!

Also, I am not against hunting. I have not hunted since I was 14 years old. On my first hunt I shot an Antelope in the face from 300 yards away. The poor bugger ran to the top of the hill and when I sighted it in again I saw the jaw hanging limp. My second shot sent it over the crest of the hill. My guide and I ran to the downed animal and my second shot was perfect. However, the animal breathed for 3 more minutes before dying. It's eyes racing around looking from side to side. At that age it traumatized me so much I put my gun down for good. I still enjoy target practice, but feel no need to hunt. However, I would never ever thinking of placing my guilt on another group of people and using my one off experience to justify taking away something they enjoy and has been a staple of human existence since creation. My dad is on an elk hunt right now. 5 days in and no luck.
