so many great beers with all different tastes, it is truly hell trying to "pair" them with good cigars party.gif

I've read that they will serve Belgian beer at the habanos festival!

what a great idea perfect10.gif

Oh my absolute fav pairing to go with a nice CC is a St. Bernardus 12....

-goes to crack one open

Yep, you have a good point,

Even "fresh" is the st bernardus very good.

Do you know were the recipe of the s bernardus comes from?

If memory serves me, it's one of the original recipes handed down from the Trappist monks at Westvleteren. Westvleteren beer is a stunning beer in its' own right......and also not available in the States.

ABT 12 is served at a great location in philadelphia on tap...and that makes it even more phenominal. But every Christmas i'll pick up a case of their limited production "Christmas Ale". Very tasty stuff.....a little less bite than traditional ABT 12. I guess you could say it's a bit less "dangerous". ABT 12 is silky smooth and goes down very well, but before you know it, you're flat on your ass.

correct!

that was shortly after war time, as you may know that corner of belgium (de westhoek) took a heavy beating during world war 1

so the westvleteren monks searched for a solution to commercialise their beer.

in 1946 the brewery in Watou was born with the recipe of westvleteren.

they even took their own yeast with them.

the name changed a few times and on the label the monk changed also (did anybody notice?)

meanwhile the monks of westvleteren stil made beer for their own use and for maybe 3 'bars'.

in 1992 the westvleteren monks took production of the westvleteren over from sint bernardus.

rest me to say... damn man, sint bernardus from tap love.gif

I can only imagine being on holiday and finding a bar like that... that would make my holiday right there and then rotfl.gif
