I'm looking to try a fountain pen or 2, and was wondering if anyone has some recommendations for beginners. Looking to spend under 100 bucks. I've had both a Laureat and an Expert and found them both excellent instruments. The Expert should be in the $100 range and the Laureat in the $70 range. James4226c Posted October 16, 2016 Share Posted October 16, 2016 IMO The best nibs/writing experience for pens under $100 are mostly from Japan (Sailor, platinum, pilot) mid range lines not their budget $20-30 pens. Only other pens I can think of in that price range that I have personal experience with is the Lamy safari/all star made in Germany, not the "traditional" looking fountain pen but construction engineering and parts all top notch.
