Canada Under Terrorist Attack- Breaking

Recommended Posts

Yesterday a home grown Jihadist killed a soldier and wounded another soldier by running them off the road. Today one just walked up and shot a memorial guard and ran up to capital hill where more than 50 shots heard.

with respect, that is the stupidest thing i have heard for a very long time.

Yeah, I'm watching it as it's happening now. And my first thought was, "What the hell is anybody doing bothering the Canadians? They're sweet and nice people!" I truly don't mean to sound patronizing, however it's been my only experience with our neighbors to the far north - really great and nice guys and dolls all across the board. Boy...I do try to keep an open mind to see things from both or all sides - but this is too much, uncalled for. You want to prove your point by your terrorist operative actions...but victimizing people who have nothing to do with whatever your complaint is makes your ass a deserved target for a drone visit. Sorry. My outraged 2 cents. You guys try to stay safe up there in Ottawa and other environs. You have a place in our hearts here in the States.

Canada joined the coalition against ISIS recently, and has jets over Iraq. Obviously this is no way excusing what's happened today. It will be the first of many such attacks on many nations I believe as ISIS had told anyone sympathetic to their cause to attack any nation who has joined the coalition against them.

This kind of partisan attack is going to be the standard response from ISIS when they have no other options of attacking.

There is going to be a reaction from ISIS and affiliated groups when our nations get involved. Its a horrible truth. I'm not totally sure this consequence is explained to us by our leaders who are so ready to join a coalition and assume there will be no consequences. Kicking a hornets nest will get you stung.

I just hope as many people are safe as possible. Thoughts to all those involved.

Not to start anything, but perhaps it's the other way around? Nice and friendly people don't want anything to do with any war .... until something is demonstrated to happen.... then the people are happy to go smiling into battle. War is an extremely profitable business.

Just saying.

After the thousands of years of fighting I don't see things changing.

This reminds me of something really truthful that I learned from my History Prof back in University regarding wars in the Middle East...

"There are some problems that have no solution."

You are locked down at work..

Some snacks, your own secure water bottles, maybe a travel pillow and the Hitchhikers Guide was right about the value of a small towel.

In case you have to walk home..

Comfy shoes

Those same snacks & water

A small pry bar

Rain/cold jacket

some para-cord

Leatherman type pocket tool/knife combo

All this can go in your everyday bag or another small bag in case to have to hang out somewhere at work, in a transit point or can't get to your car.

I am not a survivalist but as a former Boy Scout, father of an Eagle Scout and someone who works at a major Trauma Hospital I expect the unexpected and the motto "Be Prepared" often means having the little things with you.

Stay safe...

On the political side of things....well can we just leave the middle east to fight it out among themselves and either give up on the oil and cut our losses. After the thousands of years of fighting I don't see things changing.

Or if we are going to go in then lets spend millions to build roads, schools and hospitals and maybe they will be our friends instead of enemies. The war thing hasn't worked so far.

That said I am not a passivist, I support our troops who are just doing what they are told by the political leadership and I don't want to live in a para-military state.

I would lean more towards every citizen in the west carrying a sidearm so we are ALL part of the protection of our lands instead of security check points and military style police.

Yes to EVERYTHING you say, i'm glad i'm not the only who thinks this way smile.png

PS: my go bag has a leatherman, bottle of water, empty bottle of water, a bottle of peanut butter, a small first aid kit, about 5 metres of paracord, a light jacket, a few lighters and my passports/wallet etc.
