Can you list your last ten or more smokes?

Recommended Posts

Being hogging down on all things RA and PL lately. After a few months off, have also recently been enjoying Fuentes sungrowns and rosados as well as numerous Nicaraguans.

Still only like Partagas and HdM only very rarely for a change of pace.

I have a good number of those Fuente I'd be happy to trade you as they haven't done much for me

dang Mike when do you find time to smoke those NC's for your project you're working on

Oh, yeah. Didn't mention any of those. I typically do a blind tasting in the afternoon and enjoy a Habanos in the evening.

Last 10 or so NC from the Cigar Sense panel tastings:

BAND # DATE ANALYST CIGAR ID BRAND LINE NAME

1088 2015/03/28 Mike 758 J Fuego 777 Zero Toro - very nice lighter smoke with subtle aromas. Reminds of a Davidoff or Ashton Cabinet at 1/3 the price

1089 2015/03/27 Mike 701 Padron 1926 Anniversary N. 1 Maduro - 98 point cigar, need I say more

2019 2015/03/26 Mike 53 Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva Flor Fina 8-5-8 - this one disappointed, rated 74

1095 2015/03/26 Mike 848 Maya Selva Villa Zamorano Expreso - not bad, prefer the Flor de Selva line

1087 2015/03/25 Mike 63 Alec Bradley Mundial Punta Lanza N. 7 - pretty good smoke

2072 2015/03/24 Mike 12 Tatuaje Ambos Mundos Robusto N. 1 Habano - very good

995 2015/03/23 Mike 134 Maya Selva Flor de Selva N. 15 - worth a try for Habanophiles

962 2015/03/22 Mike 835 Warped Flor del Valle Cristales - these are great, highly recommended as well

1076 2015/03/21 Mike 346 Man O War Virtue Torpedo - meh

1065 2015/03/20 Mike 199 Joya de Nicaragua Antano 1970 Gran Perfecto - high octane pepper bomb

957 2015/03/19 Mike 882 Warped La Colmena Unico Especial - one of the best of the 100 or so NC I've smoked since starting the project

Starting to see some patterns, love it! I could live on the above list but finding maybe I'm not as big a fan of some sweetness that I got in my Lusitania and Sir Winston, and way sweet in my Non Plus. Friend I smoke with often, loves Umpann and no time for Cohiba or Monte.

I too take a phone pic (or several) while smoking so a short trip thru the iPhone tells me my last 10 were

Partagas P2 - last night, enjoyed the spice, enjoyed the core flavors, good but not great. Got me looking forward to the PSP D4s I scored.

Bolivar BF - yesterday morning, really good cigar, more of a departure from a Boli PC than I expected but good in its own right

Bolivar PC - Yum. These are just excellent.

Upmann HC - been loving these but this one was a bit of a dud, just not what I wanted it to be

Tatuaje Pudgy Mummy - I really enjoyed this one, a real panoply of spices and flavors.

Upmann HC - this one was perfect, just that roasty toasty hazelnutty goodness

Surrogates Cracker Crumbs - very decent short smoke, especially at the price (like $3)

RyJ Short Churchill - quite good, posted a review of this one

Trinidad Reyes - very good but tasted young, have 10 more that I'm gonna lay down for a while

Tatuaje Pudgy Chuck - loved it, well balanced between red pepper and dark cocoa.

I don't like to smoke the same cigar too often so I take photos of each stick I smoke with my phone. I can tell you the last 50 cigars I smoked

I often try to find some redeeming feature in every stick I smoke, so for to be classified as "terrible" is rare.

That being said, the last crap cigar I smoked was a VR Unico on 22/2/15

Along these same lines, I take pics of probably 90% of the cigars I smoke and post brief reviews on Instagram. So I have a readily accessible list of the cigars I smoked with brief reviews. It's muddied up with some other items like cigar purchases, baseball, and family https://instagram.com/professortwain/

My last 10 have included a fair number of non Cubans because I'm doing a systematic taste testing of several NC brands (CAO, Ashton, Oliva, Camacho, and Nub).

Last 10 Cubans, all were good--

Partagas Mille Fleurs, Bolivar Gold Medal, Monte Especial #2, RJ Belvedere, Upmann Half Corona, Cohiba Siglo III, Monte Petit #2, RJ Clarine, Bolivar PC, RJ Coronitas en Cedro. My brief Instagram reviews also list the cigar's year

Curious, from some of you with either no Upmann or very few, how do they fit your taste? I've tried several and can't pin point what it is but they just don't seem to fit me very well.

If you smoke a RyJ Cazadore or a Partagas D4 in the morning you kill your tastebuds for the rest of the day…

How many do you smoke a day, Frank? I'd love to see your last ten!

H.Upmann, well, now I have not smoked so many H.Up with age, therefore, very limited experience, but the young ones I've tried so far has been a bit boring, but I have two boxes on the way of Lonsdale -01, which I hope I will like :)
