Popular Post BuzzArd
After several storage "upgrades" I finally decided to go 1st class.... Started out years ago (25 maybe...?) with a Thompson's Cigar "free" humidor included in a $39 sampler. Eventually upgraded to a nice desktop. Found I needed a 2nd after a couple of years (still have both with sticks in them). You all know the drill.... Never enough. About 5 years ago I ordered a larger cabinet humidor from Tampa Humidor. It's quite nice with a lid that lifts to a section that holds a good 300+ sticks, and double doors on the bottom where there's plenty of room for a dozen boxes easily. Has built in electric outlets as well. Never was quite happy with the circulation from a Cigar Oasis in there so I made a simple mod adding a fan array to circulate air into the upper section, across, and then back down to the lower section with 60mm CPU fans. Dead quiet and worked like a charm! A simple, remote LED light set illuminates it perfectly. That humidor would be perfect even now but for my continuing concern with temperature.... Summers in Arizona have the humidor interior temps approaching 84°. With the temp rise I always battle the accompanying humidity spike.... My humidification device has literally been unplugged for the past 8 weeks, and RH displayed on an accurate hygrometer has held steady at 65%. Those spikes (I cannot afford to cool the house any cooler) have been a concern for me for the last three years especially. The collection has grown to the point that this cabinet no longer holds what I want to keep on hand especially for long storage. Two weeks ago I sprung for a "The Redford" model temperature/humidity controlled humidor from the Prestige Group. Would have LOVED to get a "The Remington" but Holy Cat is that big (and expensive!). The Redford is to be delivered tomorrow afternoon, and I can hardly sit still..... I think it will be more than enough. For now. Here's a link until I can post my own pics!! http://prestigeimportgroup.com/redford-cabinet-humidors.htm

BuzzArd
Very nice! Thanks for that image!! I've been hoping that my choice would be adequate for my collection and seeing yours I believe it will. Maybe add another (Why would I need another....?!?) in several years if required!! If this will manage 40 boxes (give or take) I should be good till I'm dead...! But I admit I could be in trouble....

skalls
Kind of annoyed that neither their catalog nor their site mentioned price. Also curious to see their price.

But just one. :-) Several vendors available. The link I posted was Prestige's and they are wholesale only. Internet searches have them anywhere from $1700-$2400 plus freight ($280 from Miami area to PHX).

Popular Post BuzzArd
It's here. Seems to work, although today in Phoenix it's really humid to start with. I'll give it a few days. And probably should have gotten The Remington... ?

Hygrometer is calebrateable (is that a word...) and might need to do it. But it's a bit early to judge accurately. I'll check in on it tomorrow.... In the meantime, I'll head out for a smoke....

PigFish
Very curious on the operational side as to how well these work. They look pretty affordable, for what claims are made in the details. Compressor or TE? I expect a detailed report... -LOL Congrats on your new purchases mates. Happy smokin'. -Piggy

This has a compressor. Calibrated the hygrometer today and its dialed right in to the third party digital I've been using the last couple years which has been a peach. Should get more of those.... Temp on the 3rd party reads 2-3 degrees higher than the humidor's display, but not a real issue AFAIC. Can be adjusted for.... It has a heater as well to maintain the temps at set level should ambient drop below set value. Good, because around here we don't run the heat, even when the indoors temps are as far down as 65 degrees (yeah, I know. Not a real problem for cigars). Also, the glass in the door has a "demist" feature: Heated glass to clear mist on demand. The cabinet is pretty nice, but not Aristocrat level by any means, but it is very well finished. The unit is quiet as well. The major fault I have with it is that... wait for it... IT'S TOO SMALL ALREADY.... Rats... Might indeed be getting a Remington and selling this one. If so someone will get a sweet deal.... Looks to be able to hold 40+ boxes with ease, but I'll be pushing 60-70 by year's end. NCs will have to hang out in the non cooled older cab. There's just not going to be room for them.... edit: In regards to the Remington... my initial plan was to buy an antique pharmacy type cabinet and add cooling. Will still look into that as an option. Not sure how feasible it is, but if I find the right cabinet I'm a threat to try it.
