it is not hard. DO NOT POST ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT US POLITICS.

Well . . . O.K. then.  No politics.

Can we at least discuss guns and religion then? :P  I'm sure nothing shocking or surprising happened in either of those today . . . :lookaround:

I assume this would be the place to complain. Even though my post was NOT political in any way nor broke any forum rules

I post about aged padrons I'm smoking last night with no mention of why I'm smoking no mention of any election or anything political not one word or hint to and its pulled?

chicken sh*t

I know what this is ken

Ive been a member/cust long enough to not be treated like that

When we join FOH, we agree to abide by our host's wishes - both written and unwritten.

One of those wishes is no discussion of U.S. politics.

When we take it upon ourselves to circumvent or blatantly disregard those wishes, it's like

spitting in Rob's face - at least to me.

If we didn't take it upon ourselves to go ahead and start political threads, nobody's feelings

would get hurt.

Apologies for adding to this - I guess I just like the lilt of my own voice........

Blatantly circumvent? Me are you referring ?

Is this a joke?

my post was pulled because I was giving credit to age cigars I lit last night with no mention to why I was smoking Nor any celebration. So is the new forum rule- if you make a post in an accidental untimely  manner that a moderator might assume you are enjoying a cigar, event or color not to their liking you will get pulled.?

guest? I think you know what I really am but I believe it's against forum rules to mention. Which I have always followed.

Rob Ayala with good memory knows I won't stand for this kind of crap.

again chicken sh*t

ill take it up with him

Serious question...is the ban on political discussion, or just discussion of US politics ?

As I read it, and as stated by KG et al above, it's specifically US politics. There was a great and heated debate about the UK Brexit vote earlier in the year.

Although I'm on the opposite side of the political coin, and indeed Atlantic, to@Pigfish I can endorse (most of) his comments above and would like to thank him for his thoughtful input.
See? It's not difficult.

... you know mate, I don't want to take up a fight that is not mine. Even mods make mistakes! (if a mistake was made)

Do you know how many of my posts have been taken down... a lot...? Some of them with some great content!!! It is not about taking shit, winning or losing. Frankly, the argument you are making (now) is the losing one. No offense, really! I mean do you want to get bounced over a few pictures of cigars? Do you even want to talk to Rob about a few pictures of cigars??? The guy is on vacation for Christ's sake.

If the post is all that important and not political, if it was just a celebratory cigar, post it in the cigar review forum... and talk about the cigar.

I know this is none of my business, I am not a moderator here. But the mods have a thankless job, please don't make it more difficult for them. Just take it a grain of salt and try to see that the mods are attempting to protect the forum, right or wrong (in the eyes of any individual) it really is what they are trying to do.

I am a very old and yes, very controversial member here. Fighting the mods, really puts our mutual friend on the spot, is that what you want to do? I am just advising that you take a deep breath and don't sweat the post.

Lot of emotions today on both sides. Light up another cigar and I bet the importance of the lost post will seem a lot less relevant. Maybe not!

Just my 2 cents! Best- Piggy

Hey, the door was moved even though, ever so slightly opened, so I took a chance and responded to the mildly suggestive statement made previous to it. I was ready for it to be excised if necessary, but let's not over-react as if I'd insulted somebody's loved one. One can only see what was posted, respond in kind, and if it's not allowed even in some mid-degree - then as I said, it can be taken off. Mate.

Given how its taken over every other corner of the internet, and probably will for quite a while, I for one am grateful for the zero tolerance policy here.

I am as well. Living in Chicago, Obama's "Hometown", there are plenty of places already to have the discussion. When I come here, I am looking forward to discussing cigars, looking at cigar porn and reading funny stuff. Anything other than politics

Ray, while you can not be loved by everyone, you are apparently older than before. With that said, I can take a moment and wish you a very public but Belated Happy Birthday.

You got the ball rolling for others to jump on ...not to hard to figure why it was removed    ........ to take your petty argument up with Rob at this stage of his holiday would show a real lack of class .

My experience is that Ken likes to be proactive with these types of things, which is fine by me.  I have had a few posts deleted and I appealed to Rob.  Guys, it's zero tolerance for a reason.  This is what my lefty friends would call a "safe space" (see what I did there :)).  Accept the rules and don't be butt hurt.

Cheers!

Please don't go banning people.... WE are wound up, some of us are gloating and others truly hurt. Have some empathy. Our lives go beyond this board and it is a natural place to go with our elation and our grief to share some common ground with friends. Don't rob them of their common ground!

Political differences or no, I would not want to see anyone that thinks differently (or the same for that matter) banned for some stupid thing that we do or say. Give us a few days. The emotions are really high for many of us today.

morning ray. as i'm sure you know, i would much prefer if we could discuss politics but it has been proved we can't. people know rob's rules. if they choose to flaunt them, they need to cop the consequences. these are not innocent mistakes, they are delioberate violations of rob's rules. go elsewhere.

a pub can be common ground as well but if people go there and start spitting on the floor or smashing glasses, how much leeway are they going to get, just because something happened in the world that makes them unhappy.

if our fellow members were all under 10, fair enough. they are adults. are you seriously suggesting that they cannot control themselves to the rather minor extent of not breaking the rules on a forum they chose to join?

ray, i very often agree with you (not that i might say it). not on this.
