Great pic mate 

I think the ring is caused by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere 

have seen it here on occasions ?

I believe this is true. In any event, it’s not a rainbow. A rainbow is always opposite the sun. I have seen complete circle rainbows, but only when high enough (I.e., from an airplane.)

A glory is something different than a full rainbow. I have seen 2 round rainbows while flying cross country. A rainbow appears as an arc because the horizon blocks the bottom of the circle. When you face a rainbow the sun is always at your back.

They're called Parhelions i think    This is Dr Edward Wilson (who travelled with Captain Scott to the South Pole)  painting a Parhelion that he had seen on one of his sledging journeys.

Congrats of capturing one, they are beautiful aren't they

Nice work great effort.   I visited Valencia recently and had their local Paella, which includes Rabbit, and runner beans.    I can definitely recommend giving it a go, as it was a really nice change from the much better known seafood dominated recipe.

I make Paella quite often at home and been doing so for a long time.  Usually 3-4 times a month.  It's a "kitchen sink" style cooking.  Could be poultry, meat, seafood, or any combination of the 3.  I make my own broth and freeze in 3 cup bags as it's usually 3 parts broth to 1 part rice.

Yep I hear you, thats how my mum taught me to do it, and how I've done it all my life.  That said I was surprised the dish seems to be quite different in its origins,  with very shallow rice 10-20mm deep, and crispy like a pilaf.  Also, all of the varietals they seemed to cook only seemed to feature a few ingredients.   I'm not suggesting theres any particular right way to do it, it's just always very interesting how recipes develop like Chinese whispers around the world.

I am pretty firm on using Calasparra rice as the only constant.  I like it the most out of the normally used varieties.  Buying 5 kg bags also helps deciding...  I do switch between pans depending on the mood and how much meat I am adding.

Celebrated my 35th birthday yesterday with a hare hunt in one of my favorite spots in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Not the most bountiful hunt, but I reconnected with a pair of Canda Jays who befriended me (and helped me find my quarry) on my last trip to that spot. This time they invited me to, and showed off, their nest. I paid tribute, of course.

Enjoyed a delightful 2013 Libertadore on the way there, courtesy of @awkwardPause . All in all, a wonderful day.
