About a 2.5 hour drive for 36 holes that is really worth it! If you get to Indiana, I highly recommend you find a way to French Lick (Home of Larry Bird) - the conditions and elevation changes make for a truly spectacular and humbling couple of rounds of golf. First hole tee shot: First par 3 playing 168 yards with a tough 15 mph right to left wind: The boys on #9 tee: @Devo in the center, son Bill on the right - I'm the good looking one on the left! I think they smoked about 8 cigars during the rounds. Very cool par 4 - better hit a draw off the tee and don't go left on the second shot! KG, I've always had an affinity for Oz and Aussies - I don't know why. Perhaps watching Skippy when I was a kid. I'd love to go, but have been told I'm banned. I took the pic up on the sea wall, so what you see as beach is ocean at higher tide. The actual closest beach is in the far right background by the tower. I'm close to the ocean and a number of beaches no matter - within ten minutes by car, a little longer by bicycle, and can walk if needed, so no complaints. I've lived close to the ocean all my life - even as a kid in South Boston. That said, all the local beaches are fairly rocky, and the water typically cold, but that's nature. I can't tell you how great it felt to sit up there in the afternoon sun with the smell of the sea. Over the years I've spent some good times with good friends - some now gone - on that little crescent. I unfortunately sometimes take my surroundings for granted. amazing the impact skippy had around the world. years ago when travelling, we were crossing from iran to pakistan. some visas were not in, shall we say, the perfect order the officials wanted. then one of the iranian border guards saw my passport, which has our coat of arms - emu and kangaroo on it - and he went nuts. we all thought i was about to be arrested and thrown into a cell. then we realised he was actually expressing pleasure - it was really hard to tell. he kept banging my passport yelling something. finally, we realised he was trying to sing the theme to skippy in iranian (or farsi, i guess?). he was delighted to assist my exit. the two of us doing kangaroo hops in the middle of nowhere may have been the weirdest thing ever seen out there, but anything to get across that border. i also understand the taking surroundings for granted. aussie kids grow up with the beach and surf just a given. we have a little beach shack about an hour 40 south, but it is just over the border in nsw. never in a milliion years would any aussie ever thought that crossing the border would be the slightest issue (they used to check for fruit and stuff to make sure no one carrying potential diseases but that was it). now, i can't get near the place. a problem as it has my fishing gear which i need next month. 1 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Absolutely fantastic. Peach for dessert. It was dripping while he cut it Selfie with chef, with serious Asian flush Drinks for the night (in order, left to right) - made a mistake and should have drank the 2nd bottle first as it had less body and flavours as compared to the first. Fantastic night all round, would have never thought to have a private chef party like that if not for covid. Sounds great! I have never seen so many sand traps on a course, and I hit every one of them. Or at least it felt that way. Still COVID free! Stayed with family at every stop along the way. Saw all 6 grandchildren, 3 adult children and their spouses. Played some great golf courses (10 rounds) in every state we were in -- PB Dye at French Lick, Medinah #3 --and topped the trip off with a final round at Valhalla in Kentucky with @Devo.
