And I wish you the best in your decidedly uphill climb.

Does anyone know if it's possible/helpful for a non-resident Canadian citizen (like me) to sign/send this?

Somehow I made a mistake as I meant to say that we stand up for our B&M's

American tourists.  If Cubans became legal to sell in the states, it would hit Canadian retailers hard.

I agree. I’ve seen Americans in the shop the few times I have visited a Canadian B&M. As for the new legislation let’s just say common sense is a rarity when it comes to tobacco laws in this country.

These guys (Smokin Cigar) do an excellent job.

For the love of God just let people work and do what they love.

This picture is tremendously important as it shows the last time Rob actually willing came to Canada LOL.

On the serious side, this is a critical effort for Canadian Cigar folks, customers and retailers alike. i will do my part...

Absolutely. It has destroyed the Oz retailer base. Those remaining sell more overpriced accessories and ties/pens than cigars.  Within 5 years there will be no pure B&M cigar retailer remaining in Oz.

Don't let that happen to Canada.

Awful what can the Oz do?

nothing.

Appeasing, consulting, negotiating only led to complete devastation.

There needs to be orchestrated and well funded opposition to draconian change. Any country without that will eventually fall.

It is challenging and the Government is not doing us any favors. But things like this would be a tipping point for our industry.

And at the same time, I'm getting the sense that our Gov't is going to bend over backwards to appease pot smokers.  Legalization is around the corner and I'm betting they'll have indoor lounges soon enough.  FWIW, tobacco has put tax money into gov't coffers for over 100 years, marijuana has not and it's going to be the belle of the ball.

Blanket legislation like this really sucks.  Hope you guys get the bill amended with the language you want.   It would be a weird turn of events if the US finally totally lift the embargo on Cuban Cigars then people from Canada would cross the border to purchase them because of the price.   I really doubt the US will do that.  With cigarette and cigar taxes governments claim they are to reduce smoking.   It would be interesting to see what they would do with a massive shift in smoking rates causing a large hole in their tax rolls.  I am guessing offset it by taxing other "things that are bad for us"

Sent a handcrafted email expressing my concerns (including the counterfeiting aspect) to my MP many weeks ago, sent this one from the BetterCigarPlan.ca website last week or so.

In both cases, just got a regular "We'll get back to you" form email reply.

I always take abuse for my stance on these matters.

Send the socialists packing and get your freedom back! The problem is not this bill. The problem is dependence on government, therefore reliance on their 'good' judgment.

It is a myth that freedom and socialism can coexist. There are only periods where the passive populace thinks it can... until it is proven it cannot. Gimmee free stuff today means, you are willing to take the overbearing, high taxing solutions to the problems they create up you tired posterior sometime tomorrow.
