Stop the Montesco

I was perusing Cuban Cigar Website earlier and saw that there is another regional release in the montesco vitola. That would be the LGC Unifree for Turkey. Why, why, why? I can't stand the montesco.

That said, I've never had a truly bad cigar in this vitola. The few wide Churchills I've had were decent and so were the RA Phonicio 35s. Am I just being ridiculous or are there others that feel my pain? lol

What other vitolas can you all live without?

Pretty much anything over 46 rg that isn't a figurado. I'll smoke the occasional Julieta No. 2, Robusto or Prominentes, but I wouldn't miss them if I never had another.

Anything bigger than a 54, tired of the short fatter cigars, the vigías have got to go. Need more long and skinnies, and or Julieta No. 2

Fair point. There's been 10 Regional Edition Montesco releases since 2015. Do we need more?

I'm with you, I'm sick of the fat short cigars!  Don't like going over 52 ring gauge, and anything shorter than robusto.

I only say 54 because I have x2 boxes of QDO 54. But I’m not really sure if I’ll enjoy them.

Agreed. I'm tiring of seeing the continual RE program of this vitola

It's the "easy button" for lazy distributors who dont want to come up with their own unique RE.

Thankfully, we are  coming to the end of the brands they can use for it before they start repeating....

Hasn't stopped them before. Most marcas have re-issued vitolas for the ER program, particularly Bolivar who has reissued Dobles, Sublimes, Romeos, Rodolfos, Edmundos and Geniales at least.

I see no end to the Montesco. I dislike is as well. With a 54 RG I prefer a Geniales or Sublimes.

I like the Montesco format actually, particularly for its hefty feel. The only requirement is that I punch these to avoid them being jaw breakers. Otherwise o find they tend to smoke very well

Montesco is by far my least favorite vitola and I actually don’t mind a fatter cigar.  Many of my favorites are 54 rg

Consumer demand for single cigar purchases in a fat cigar is still quite high.  Most of the world is not buying 25 count boxes at B&M's.
