so, we have now banned our best, perhaps our one world class player (unless pocock is fit), rugby player (and yes, his talent should play no part in this). for expressing his religious views (those of the religion which happens to supposedly be the religion on which this country was founded - well, it was when i was a kid, no idea now).

may i stress that in no way do i agree with his views in any way. i think they are utterly moronic. and while i am all in favour of free speech, i do think that a little common sense must be part of that. so, i have no problem with a penalty or a ban. but for life? seriously? he gets life for expressing his views (however truly bizarre and unquestionably offensive to some they are - if that was a real crime, i'd have every politician in the country heading to jail) and yet drug cheats get several chances and then a penalty of a few months or in extreme cases, a year. beale sends porn to officials. no problem. cooper caught breaking and entering. well he was young. was there a crime james o'connor didn't commit and get forgiven for, time after time? insane.

meanwhile, back at the kindergarten that passes for australian tennis, that vile grub kyrios has walked away from another match. in the middle of the game. he was winning and then started losing and so threw the usual tanty and abused people and threw a chair (the same day, thanks to rain, players like nadal, djoker and federer all had to play two matches and they all won all of them, with grace and class). and walked off. he is beyond a disgrace.

but wait, those hard as nails tennis officials have apparently decided he will forfeit any prize money. it was round two. so whatever he would have got for winning first round in some regional event. well big whoop. but wait, he also has to pay his bar bill. honestly, i'm surprised amnesty has not stepped in to complain about such cruel and unusual punishment.

so this deplorable grub continues to embarrass this nation but he is still allowed to play on, to be a role model for kids. but folau is not. ever again. granted he is a whackjob godbotherer extremis but otherwise, the bloke has never put a foot wrong at any time for any code.

this is utterly stuffed.

With Kyrgios it’s become so sad and ridiculous that you almost have to laugh at what he’s going to do next. I like characters in sport, but this guy is just offensive.

I cant believe Australian Rugby would do this to Falau just months before a World Cup. Ok he was warned last time but in the grand scheme of things what he was done is pretty minor compared to many, many others (not that I agree with him at all). If Australia somehow manage to get to the final or even a semi final with all this happening combined with their form over the last 18 months it will be the stuff of legend

david, while i may have expressed folau's views a little crudely (and out of sheer pettiness, i refuse to spell kyrios's name correctly) but the number of guys who have been involved in domestic violence, for example, still running around the park shows how silly this has become. we have guys who have done their time in jail back and playing. very strange all round.

but as for us making the final, i really don't think anyone here thinks that is the slightest possibility.

we have an administration that is beyond hopeless - notwithstanding the folau mess. tomorrow (and this from someone who has driven a round trip of 2,000 ks to watch the game in the past and would no more miss a qld v nsw rugby game than stop breathing - yet tomorrow, not going. have tickets for half way but could not care any more, plus i have a brunello lunch) we have the big interstate game qld v nsw.

qld fullback is out injured. the backup (probably starter if he'd been with us all year) is also part of the under 20s wallaby comp, who go into camp on the weekend for a competition coming up down the track. could he be allowed to play the big interstate game? oh no. it was planned to go into the under 20s camp months ago so he must do that. what the hell would be better for a young kid? playing in that game or sitting around at camp and watching it? and joining them next day or even that evening.  we are so stupid.

I like the fact he included atheists in his list of who's going to hell. It really doesn't bother us, but thanks for the mention

There is something so deliciously ironic when:

- Angry, repressed religious types from "culturally evolved" or "developed" countries,  sail over to Polynesia

- Previously happy go lucky Polynesian people, have repressed closed mind thinking literally forced on them

- Fire and brimstone Christianity takes root in Polynesia

- Meanwhile Christianity in the West is now fully accepting of all sorts of LGBT blurred lines

- Now we seek to brow beat someone of Polynesian ancestry, for the unaccepting opinions which chart right back to the Missionaries

I don't agree with anything with anything Folau has said, but I have much more issue with the Bible.   Let's note this!........you can still go and read the Bible in the local library, It's publishing rights are in tact,  where as Folau has to hang up his boots.

Well, on a brighter note...Jack de Belin lost his case against the NRL over being stood down this year as he is currently (criminally) charged with aggravated sexual assault. As he is 28 years old and it could take 2 years to resolve the matter his career in Rugby League could be over. Personally, I welcome such news because I'm frankly sick to death of numerous incidents of Rugby League players (in the past 10 or 15 years) committing such acts of violence against their wives/partners or girlfriends.

On a less brighter note, Dylan Walker, who plays for Manly, is allowed to play this weekend because his case of domestic violence against his partner was thrown out on a technicality. The police were so upset about it that they took the extraordinary measure of publishing photos via the media of his partner after he attacked her in the off-season this year for interrupting him playing a video game. Like in the Greg Bird case (what a disgusting vile human piece of trash...seriously, glassing your girlfriend and dealing cocaine amongst 'teammates' for the Gold Coast Titans, again not convicted on technicalities) the partner doesn't testify so they are allowed to play sport in the public realm. I don't blame the NRL for finally taking a stand on this continued behaviour but they have themselves to blame for it.

As for Rugby Australia, getting rid of Israel Folau will ultimately result in a further drawn out legislative process where they will both lose the case for dismissing Folau on the grounds they've stated and it will cost them millions (there are laws in Australia protecting against workplace dismissal on religious grounds. I think Rugby Australia will have a hard time proving that they've done otherwise).

I don't think I have enough breath to draw in regards to Kyrgios. At least Tomic has disappeared for the time being.
