Regional Edition / Edicion Regional (ER / RE) Discussion Thread

Ratings are subjective and frankly, it’s too much work for me to rate all the REs I’ve smoked (and I have tried almost all of them), but one I just have to mention:

RG88 - solid ZERO

I've enjoyed a lot of RE's. Some more than others. Going after some of these could cost you an arm and a leg given the relative scarcity, difficulty in obtaining and demand.

Here's what I'd be hunting for.

  1. La Escepcion Selectos Finos - Italy 2011
  2. La Escepcion Don Jose -Italy 2015
  3. Ramon Allone Celestales Finos - AP 2009
  4. Ramon Allones Gladiator - BPE - 2010
  5. Bolivar Bosphorus - Turkey 2014
  6. ERDM Infantes - Cuba 2013 (honorable mention LGC Delicios 2009 Cuba RE (jar release, going for well over $1000USD)
  7. Ramon Allones Super Allones - Canada 2011
  8. Punch Clasicos - Swiss 2011
  9. Bolivar Especiales No 2 - Germany 2009

All I've been fortunate enough to smoke have been Españas:

'08 RA Grandes: 9.8

'10 SP Quijotes: 9.8

'09 Punch Gran Robusto: very, very MEH!

'14 RA Caprichos: first couple I decided to give them more time. I smoked one this last winter and it was craziest I've ever smoked: it was phenomenally tasty as soon as I lit, but it burned incredibly unevenly. I kept evening it up and purging. It was still tasty occasionally but got pretty charred tasting after all re-lites and I finally gave up less than 2/3 through... I'll try again sometime with high hopes, because I've never smoked a stogie that tasty from first puff!

Both that I gave high scores... could've easily given perfect tens, as I can't imagine tastier smokes but...who knows what future holds.

Edmundo Dante's Conde Belicosos México

Diplomatico Embajador Netherlands

Diplomatico Ammunition Phoenicia

QDO Capitolio France (just had one, compliments of @SigmundChurchill Elliot and it was very very very good)

LGC Orgullosos Switzerland

A lot of the regionals don't really do it for me.

I’m loving the QDO Capitolio’s though.  I wish I bought more boxes while I was in Paris.

Edmundo Dante’s Conde Belicosos are amazing too.

RG88 seems to be getting insane polarizations lol

I don’t get it - I’ve tried about 10 sticks from various boxes and they were absolute dog rockets, when they burned at all.

The Punch Classicos were delicious cigars, not to worry.  The 109 RE rule remains valid....
